Presentation of the Faculty of Engineering and Administration
I. Presentation of the Faculty of Engineering
An extensive program of modernizing the Egyptian industry has been launched with the support of the European community and a clear political will has made it a strategic priority of the country. The entry of Egypt in these activities is a clear political priority. The objective is to ensure Egypt's share of the global market that is compatible with its capabilities. The Faculty of Engineering, LEU is born of the will of Egypt and France and works to promote educational excellence ensuring the vitality of its students.
The basic principles of engineering faculty
1. Meet the needs of local and regional markets through a judicious choice of specialties.
2. Ensure openness of the faculty to the outside world through close relationships with industry (internships in companies).
3. Contribute to the mobility of students into laboratories or companies in France and Europe.
4. Propose an innovative curriculum, while respecting the rules of the Egyptian Supreme Council of Universities, is consistent with French and European requirements.
5. Train a generation of engineers trilingual, with a curriculum to give students access to a double degree (baccalauréos Egyptian engineering and Master of Science and Technology French) through a close partnership with universities and large French schools.
Studies are conducted every five years and are divided into ten semesters.
The first four semesters constitute the preparatory course in which basic lessons in mathematics, physics, mechanics, electronics, computer (...) are provided. The remaining six semesters of the engineering cycle (5 to 10) are passed in an engineering department `s according to the discipline chosen by the student. They end with a graduation project (semester 10) in industrial or scientific. At the student has the opportunity to move towards one of the following specialties:
Information Technology and Communication (ICT)
The specialty ICT aims to train engineers in the following disciplines: Consumer Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics.
Integrated Manufacturing, Energy, Control (PEC)
PEC specialty trains engineers specialized in Auto Production, Energy, and Automatic Control.
The specialty Architecture is scheduled to begin in 2009.
The main language of instruction is French. But many modules are taught in English or Arabic.
Parallel to this training, students can follow a Master of Science and Technology French. Three Masters relocated to Egypt are available:
Master of Architecture and Design of Integrated Systems (ACSI) with the University Pierre and Marie Curie (Paris 6)
Master of Mechanics and Fibre Science (MSF) with the National School of Engineering of Southern Alsace
Master of Information Systems Integration (ISI) with the University of Corsica
Another Master is available in double degree with the University of Toulouse 3 , it is the Master of Electromagnetism Microwaves and Optoelectronics (MEMO).
