On July 15th, 2006, the presidential decree No. 252 for founding PUA with seven faculties was issued. On August 31st, 2009, the presidential decree No. 202 was issued for four additional faculties. Moreover, PUA has been licensed from the Egyptian Council of Private and National Universities to operate a total of eleven faculties.

Pharos University aspires to be one of the leading comprehensive universities in the region and across the globe. In addition, it aspires to meet the needs of the community, cope with the continuing technological development and prepare its students for inspired leadership, personal fulfillment and lifetime learning.

The mission of Pharos University is to provide qualitative higher educational opportunities that would enable students to develop advanced knowledge and skills, provide leadership and service to their communities, and improve the productivity of their organizations through the integration of the educational and research capabilities.

Student Services

PUA has three spacious libraries situated in distinguished locations in each of PUA's academic buildings. There are a large variety of books and specialized references that serve different fields for each of PUA's faculties. Each of PUA's libraries offers various services which help students conduct research and acquire most of the information they need. These services include:

Daily newspapers in Arabic, English and French

PUA gives special attention to sports activities and participates in the League of the Egyptian National Universities in different sports. PUA has extensive sports facilities that include:

A grass Football field with official dimensions
Two five-a-side Football courts
A Handball court
A Basketball court
A Volleyball court
Four Tennis courts
A Ping-Pong table

A branch of the Commercial International Bank (CIB) is located in the center of PUA's campus and provides all banking services to PUA's students, faculty and staff.

Study Area
PUA has a large study area on the first floor of the cafeteria building that is fully covered by wireless internet and offers the quiet environment students need to study individually or in groups.

Food Court
PUA has an elegant cafeteria that has 8 restaurants and serves an assortment of meals to satisfy different palates, whether the students or faculty and staff, at reasonable prices.

PUA has large parking areas for almost 1000 cars to accommodate students, faculty and staff.

Students with special needs

PUA welcomes applications from physically impaired students with exceptional academic records. Applications are assessed on the merit of academic achievement.

Accordingly, the university provides additional services and facilities where students with special needs are allowed in some cases to reside within the university’s accommodations (when available) for their entire study period at PUA.

Facilities for wheel-chair disabilities include:

• Wide door elevators.
• Flexible classroom designs
