Mentouri University of Constantine was founded by the President of the Republic of Algeria, Houari
Boumediene, on March 29, 1968. The university, which was designed by the celebrated Brazilian architect Oscar
Nemeyer, opened its doors in September 1971. Today, Mentouri University is one of the largest universities in

Mentouri University is located in the town of Constantine, long considered to be the cultural capital of Eastern
Algeria. With an area of 544,660 m2
, Mentouri University is comprised of 14 campuses, nine faculties, and one
national institute. The university has about 70,000 students and 2,500 teachers.

University Structure
The university is organized around the Central Administration. The rector, who chairs the Central Administration,
