The Institute of Accountancy Arusha (IAA) was established by the Parliament Act No. 1 of 1990. IAA offers professional and academic programmes at both the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Since its inception, the Institute has endeavoured to offer top quality academic and professional education.
Location
The Institute is located at Njiro Hill, seven kilometers South-East of Arusha town, Tanzania’s famous tourist center, which is also the Headquarters of the East African Community.
Admission of Students
Courses offered at IAA are open for both local and foreign applicants who satisfy admission requirements.
Transport and Traveling
Regular public shuttle services to and from Arusha town are available. Students traveling to and from the institute during vacation are expected to make their own travel arrangements. However, the Institute may assist in securing tickets at concessional rates for students traveling by air within Tanzania.
Students’ Organization
There exists a students’ organization at the Institute for the raison d’etre of which is promoting and safeguarding their general interests at the Institute, and for providing a channel of communication between students and the Institute’s authorities. It also deals with students’ social, cultural, and other recreational activities. Membership to this organization is automatic upon a student’s enrollment at the Institute.

Admission to Bachelor Degree Programmes (under validation process) - Three Years
BACHELOR IN ACCOUNTING (BA)
BACHELOR IN BANKING AND FINANCE (BBF)
BACHELOR IN PROCUREMENT AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (BPLM)
BACHELOR IN ECONOMICS AND FINANCE (BEF)
BACHELOR IN BUSINESS MANAGEMENT (BBM)
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
• Form VI (six) with at least two principal passes in relevant subjects with total points not below 4.5 obtained from the scoring: A = 5, B = 4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5, F=0 OR
• An appropriate equivalent Ordinary Diploma with second class or B average, OR
• NTA Level 6 in related disciplines.
BACHELOR IN COMPUTER SCIENCE (BCS)
BACHELOR IN INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (BIT)
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
• Form VI (six) with at least two principal passes in Physics, Mathematics, Geography, Biology with total points not below 4.5 obtained from the scoring: A = 5, B = 4, C=3, D=2, E=1, S=0.5, F=0 OR
• An appropriate equivalent Diploma with second class or B average OR
• Full Technician Certificate (FTC) with an average minimum pass of C OR
• Any other equivalent qualification e.g. NTA Level 6 in the related discipline.
NB: The Institute expects to launch the above seven bachelor degree programs this academic year (2010/2011).However, some of the bachelor degree programs are at the final stage of validation/approval by the relevant authority (NACTE).
Admission to Postgraduate Programmes - One Year
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN ACCOUNTANCY (PGDA)
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree (Accounting option) or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from any reputable institution OR
• NBAA’s CPA Intermediate stage OR
• Any other equivalent qualification
POSTGRADUATE DIPLOMA IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT (PGDFM)
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree or Advanced Diploma from any reputable institution OR
• NBAA’s CPA Intermediate stage OR
• NBMM’s CSP Intermediate Stage OR
• TIOB’s Associate Diploma OR
• Any other equivalent qualification.
Admission to Masters Degree Programmes - in collaboration with Coventry University - One Year
MASTERS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION –INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY (MBA-IT)
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree with at least a Second Class from an approved Institution of Higher Learning.
• A second Class Advanced Diploma from a recognized Institute or equivalent qualifications.
• A professional qualification recognized by Professional bodies.
• Candidates with a PASS Degree or Advanced Diploma will be considered upon producing evidence of having obtained an examined Postgraduate Diploma.
MASTERS IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION –PROCUREMENT AND LOGISTICS MANAGEMENT (MBA-PLM)
Minimum Entry Qualifications:
• Bachelor Degree with at least a Second Class from an approved Institution of Higher Learning.
• A second Class Advanced Diploma from a recognized Institute or equivalent qualifications.
• A professional qualification recognized by Professional bodies (e.g. CSP CPA) (T),
• Candidates with a PASS Degree or Advanced Diploma will be considered upon producing evidence of having obtained an examined Postgraduate Diploma.
Admission to Basic Technician Certificate Programmes - One Year
TECHNICIAN CERTIFICATE IN ACCOUNTING (TCA)
