Located in the town of Orono along the banks of the Stillwater River, the University of Maine offers a strong traditional education at an affordable price. You're in a great place here. Umaine is one of New England's premier universities.
At Umaine, you'll enjoy the world through 88 bachelor's degree programs, 64 master's degree programs, and 25 doctoral programs. The library is ranked among the top in the country, they have one of the nation's oldest and most prestigious Honors College programs, and our students enjoy hands-on research, even at the undergraduate level.
Each year more than 400 international students and scholars from some 75 countries join the University of Maine. As the landgrant and seagrant university for the State of Maine, the University offers a full range of degree programs, cutting edge research opportunities, the largest academic library in the State, an Honors College, a wireless campus and computer clusters, and more than 200 students clubs. The University is located on 600 beautiful acres in a traditional New England setting, and offers a friendly and safe environment.
The University also offers an Intensive English Institute, and has an International Student Association.
Students have many recreational opportunities on campus and in the community. There are miles of cycling and walking paths on campus, and cross-country ski trails in the winter. The Office of International Programs sponsors trips throughout the state, and an annual "Culturefest" celebration.
The University of Maine offers academic scholarships to highly qualified first-year candidates. Awards are competitive and first priority consideration is given to students applying for admission through the Early Action Admission Process. Students applying through the regular, rolling admission process will be considered on a funds available basis. All students who apply for admission are automatically considered for academic scholarships, a separate academic scholarship application is not required. |
