The College awards bachelorís degrees to students who successfully complete a four-year, college-level curriculum.The College is managed and operated by highly qualified Saudi and expatriate faculty and staff to provide the highest standards of academic services.
Program content, methods of teaching and learning, co-curricular activities and support services are integrated and focused on developing graduates who are competent in their chosen fields, committed to life-long learning and prepared to contribute to the betterment of their society and humanity at large. A College Preparation Program is offered as a bridge between the studentís high school curriculum and the entrance requirements of the College. The College also offers continuing education and extension courses to meet the needs of women in the community for professional development and personal enrichment.
STATEMENT ON MINISTRY APPROVAL
Dar Al-Hekma College was approved by the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to operate as a degree granting institution of higher education starting September 1999 under Decree No. 7/b/4453 dated 3/4/1420H. The academic degree programs of the College are designed to meet national as well as international accreditation standards.
Dar Al-Hekma College is housed in one integrated structure consisting of 26,500 square meters, which can accommodate up to 1,500 students. The academic space includes classrooms, computer labs, science labs, faculty and administrative offices, and a library, all of which are equipped to provide a state-of-the-art learning environment. Space for student services and activities includes prayer rooms, counseling and career services center, health services, recreational facilities, offices, meeting rooms for student clubs, lounges and common room, gym and cafeterias.
Dar Al-Hekma College is the pioneering project of the Al-Ilm Foundation, which was established in 1999 with the objective of providing state of the art higher educational facilities and services through academic institutions such as colleges and universities in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Dar Al-Hekma College is a premier non-profit institution of higher education for women in Saudi Arabia and a leading model of teaching and learning institution, nationally and internationally. The medium of instruction for all degree programs is English language.
Dar Al-Hekma College currently offers four year bachelorís degree programs in six majors with up to 142 credit hours and a liberal arts component comprising of a variety of general education courses. The academic programs at the College were developed by the Texas International Education Consortium (TIEC), Austin, Texas as part of the larger contract to design the complete blue print for the various divisions of the College. For developing the academic programs, TIEC appointed project element teams with Saudi and international experts and academics who were charged to develop the curriculum. About 140 experts were recruited to serve on the various project elements teams to complete the task of developing the overall curriculum, the detailed course description and course syllabus as well as information on the laboratory component and text books, etc. The work of the teams and the program documents they produced were reviewed and approved by the Academic Committee appointed by the Founding Committee and the final program was submitted for approval to the Ministry of Higher Education, which assured national accreditation. The standards used for developing the curriculum closely followed the requirements of the Middle States Association in the United States, which will further facilitate international accreditation.
Located in the cosmopolitan city of Jeddah, on the shores of the Red Sea, the College has been built and equipped to the highest international standards and designed to provide the best teaching and educational resources and facilities for its students, faculty and staff. The College admitted its first batch of students in September 1999, after nearly four years of intensive planning and successful implementation, and has received approval from the Ministry of Higher Education of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the degree programs of the College.

Dar Al-Hekma College is a private, non-profit institution of higher education in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia whose mission is to provide selected degree programs of the highest quality to academically qualified women. The College fosters creativity and emphasizes the important role in society of women as the first builders of the family and the first educators of the nation.
