General Features
Pontificia Universidad Javeriana is a private higher education institution founded in 1623. It is one of the oldest and most traditional Colombian universities, directed by the Society of Jesus, with its headquarters in Bogotá and a sectional division in Cali. It is one of the 31 universities entrusted to the Society of Jesus in Latin America, and one of the114 worldwide.
Javeriana University at Bogotá with an enrollment of 22.000 students, is composed of 18 Schools comprising 62 departments and 193 academic programs in different areas of knowledge, giving the university its multidisciplinary nature. It's campus has 46 buildings in 44,5 acres, and is located in a strategic and easily accessible part of the city.
Mission
Javeriana University in the near future will mainly promote research and curricula-centered integral education; it will strengthen its interdisciplinary university nature, and it will reinforce its presence in the country contributing to the solution of its major problems.
Quality Assurance
The Javeriana University was the first higher education institution in Colombia to be awarded, for its high quality level, institutional acreditation for a period of eight years by Resolution 1320 of June 12th 2003, of the Ministry of National Education. Today, only 16 universities in Colombia have been granted said recognition.
The University has a total of 27 undergraduate programs with high quality accreditation, and other ten programs are now in the more advanced accreditation process stage.
In graduate programs, quality is acknowledged through the Qualified Registries. The University has156 graduate programs with Qualified Registries
Projection
The University has a wide Continuous Education offer with both open programs for the general public and closed programs for corporations. It conducts over 750 programs (courses and registration studies) every year both in Colombia and abroad, in different fields of knowledge, with over 23,000 participants. The Continuing Education Center was awarded the ISO 9,001: 2000 Quality Management System Certificate in 2005.
In recent years, close to 40 academic units between departments, centers, and institutes, conducted consulting projects for the productive, public and private sectors in the following fields: environment; political and socio-economic development; technological development; cultural and social studies; planning and health care. In 2005 close to 79 projects were developed for a value of over four million dollars.
The University also offers test and assay services in its laboratories, counseling in areas such as law and psychology, and with its students, through social practices, it develops a wide range of community service projects.
Technology
To provide technological support to research, education, service and administrative processes, the University has last generation services.

The SIU (University Information System, for its acronym in Spanish) with its "People Soft" platform for Academic Management.
The New Technologies-Aided Education Center (CEANTIC by its Spanish Acronym) that offers virtual courses support through its Blackboard platform.
The Centro Audiovisual Javeriano, with front edge technology in this field in Latin America, internationally accredited like Autodesk Training Center-ATC.
The Computer-Aided Architecture and Design Project, CAAD.
the Technological Industrial Automation Center.
The Geo-referenced Information Center, GIC,
the Javeriana Center of Oncology. the San Ignacio University Hospital, and the Magnetic Resonance Imaging Center.
It also has 130 laboratories and workshops.

The Sport Center offers over 30 different sports, and includes the first synthetic soccer field with official measures on a University campus in Colombia.
