Mission Statement

The Universidad Militar “Nueva Granada” erects itself as a reflexive and critical community, based on constitutional principles and values that allow it to provide higher education to military force members, their families and the community in general. This entity provides to the state as well as the private sector the solution of the national problems, aiming, through its quality, at the consolidation of the research processes, integration and international cooperation.

Vision Statement

The Universidad Militar “Nueva Granada”, in accordance with the new national and international trends in education, shall be an important center of higher education with undergraduate and graduate programs of a high scientific and technological development and with a profound humanistic and social sense. Also, the Universidad Militar “Nueva Granada” shall be committed to the formation of ethical and integral professionals and to the study and solution of the problems in the defense sector and of the community in general.


1. To improve and set down the roots for academic quality.

2. To improve and consolidate institutional efficiency.

3. To gradually increase coverage.

4. To foster and develop research.

5. To strengthen interaction with the defense sector.


Our university came into being in 1962 when the Escuela Militar de Cadetes “José María Córdova” ( J.M.C Military School) started offering Civil Engineering, Economics and Law programs to the second lieutenants of the institution supplementary to the last two years of their professional education. In 1978, as a result of the idealistic conception of a sector of the medical staff at the Central Military Hospital, the School of Medicine and Health Sciences was founded, beginning its labor in the first semester of 1979.

Inter-institutional Affairs Office

The Inter-institutional Affairs Office supports, encourages and leads mutual cooperation with universities and technical, scientific and educational centers. It identifies opportunities in national and international fields in order to strengthen and enhance cooperation at the academic, scientific, technological and human levels of our students and professors. This is to be in accordance with the academic level of international universities, to supply the needs of the national development in Colombia and in agreement with the institutional mission.
