The scope may in fact have our university is inextricably linked to those that can be considered unfinished promises of modernity. I mean a university society with a clear moral and political mandate to make sense from which the rights of citizens. In this vein, they are highly relevant spaces which give philosophical debates, scientific and cultural life that give sound and daily practices that will enable us all to think as a university society which we base our own ways life within the University. "
The University of Manila, is a regional educational agency that began its history on July 24, 1972, as Cooperative for the Promotion of Higher Education. In 1983, he became Manizales University Foundation, and finally, the Ministry of National Education, through Resolution No. 2317, 1992, granted institutional recognition as a university.
On Monday July 24th, 1972 at 6:30 pm, 200 students began classes in Accounting, Law, Economics and Psychology at the headquarters of the Industrial Technology Institute.
Currently, the University of Manizales has about five thousand students, who pursue their careers in 15 academic programs, divided into five fields of knowledge: social sciences, economic sciences, engineering sciences, legal sciences and sciences health.
To these we add 24 graduate programs: a Ph.D. in Social Sciences, childhood and youth, more than 8 masters and 15 specializations. This, not to mention that the University has signed over 20 agreements with major centers of higher education in countries like Mexico, Italy, Chile, Argentina, Spain, and, of course, with the best institutions in Colombia.
This overview of the knowledge is properly certified quality accreditation of its academic programs, which are supported by the master's qualification as have 158 of its members, faculty and staff, and 18 doctors, also distributed among teachers and administrators.
All of the above, to emphasize that the University of Manizales has become, in its historical process, a beacon of reality, whose nature is based on three significant dimensions: research, teaching and outreach.
The University itself, through its graduates, is located in a direct relationship not only with social phenomena and with other citizens, but these professionals are highly competent to interact quickly and efficiently with the governmental, commercial and business of the city, region and country.
The University of Manizales, from the principles of solidarity, pluralism, equity and social justice, deploys its educational and cultural processes articulating training professionals, creative and committed to the country, construction of valid knowledge relevant , and interaction with the environment aimed at promoting human and social development.

University education should train people to self-judgment, self, citizens have no fundamental premise of his life consumption, but instead be able to make sense of the environment in order to transform it. Our history of 38 years left behind the old dilemma that there are two isolated worlds: in one, are the sciences and disciplines, and in the other humanities. The mission of a university is searching multiple links that unite them, and they are in related disciplines and transdisciplinary.
From the integral processes of understanding and explanation of the universe, materialized at the same time, the moral, that is, the university must educate for the protection of civil and social rights, the dignity of individuals.
Reasonableness is a basic virtue for citizens, who belong to plural societies, can live in a society where justice, equity and accountability as possible. Reasonableness is a way to be tolerant of solidarity with the Other and the Other, this condition can listen to them, recognize that only together, and from dissident elements, they can reach agreements and understandings. A speech and a reasonable attitude determine the boundaries between what is tolerable and what is not, and provide the public defend. Reasonable behavior is prudent and allows the construction of a democratic life.
The term comes from the Latin rationabilis reasonable, which means fair, according to reason. And you can also talk about raissonable, which means they have reason, that is, the thinker or work so that it does is display a sound in mind, just, fair in all matters of human activities.
From a jurisprudential perspective, one can assert that it is reasonable that conforms to the Constitution, but rather than the letter itself, its spirit, by contrast, how unreasonable would be unconstitutional. In this sense, there are two substantive principles underlying the regulation of the rights, duties and constitutional guarantees: the legality and reasonableness.
The concept of reasonableness, can also be understood as a fusion of the terms reason and sensibility, as in the same fit to both reason and feeling, logical arguments and aesthetic imagination.
Finally, it is understood that at the University of Manizales, the mainstay of the open space reasonableness of the understandings, agreements, border search, mediations ...; elements that are essential in plural, multiethnic, multilingual, multicultural, typical of a college.
Accordingly, the University of Manizales is not involved in any point of view on the resolution of disputes by other means than words, the speech itself. It is therefore relevant to think rationally and use the ideas provided by the force of argument. Similarly, decanted the corridors virtues such as loyalty, solidarity, hospitality, freedom of expression, friendship, civil courage to say what there is to say, moral and intellectual honesty and trust, among others. All these should be regarded as epistemic and moral values.
Education is political

Society at the University of Manizales, must recognize that the meaning of some resistance offered by a certain type of people with a developed critical capacity is a fundamental test of its existence. This recognition of the fact that the crisis we are facing in this country, and not just here, forcing us to assume an awareness which are translated for us in political action. Being a university, not only is considered eminently rational positions, we must also think in political action.
Freedom: a transcendental referent
Freedom is a vital reference in guiding this process. The University of Manila is a modern project that has to be made up of free spirits. This means that each and every one of those who belong to this university society, we are beings who also possess the faculty of reason, we have hopes, dreams, longings, desires ... Therefore, each and every one of us have received a heritage and 38 years of history, we are responsible individually and socially. And so we are morally by what we do from here on out. Consequently, the moral concepts of freedom and become two sides of the same coin. We are free to think and act on all micro and macrospace, which implies that they must be guided by the beacon of individual and collective behavior.
Love: a moving motor
It has a university where there is just no love like the moving motor that drives everything, but everyone who is linked with it, dream and imagine the impossible not only in offices or classrooms, but love itself, imagination and dreams to walk the halls, cafeteria, parking lots, courts, campuses, every corner of the institution. Love with the imagination, which is none other than the "crazy" house, it must allow walking on the road of uncertainties in which we all move.
