The UDCA is a Higher Education Institution private, independent, pluralistic and democratic inspiration, whose mission is based on constitutional principles and the law on Higher Education to develop teaching , the research and extension depending on the training of professionals integrated with social and environmental commitment with leadership and citizens with high values in those fields of action that contribute to a just and equitable development of disadvantaged groups in the country.

Develops academic excellence through the generation and dissemination of knowledge , respect for the rights, duties, constitutional and human development for the benefit of Colombian society .


The UDCA was consolidated as an institution of higher education Private, a leading national and international context.

In 1985 the University acquired the south campus , located at Calle 222 and Carrera 55, where more than 7,500 meters of building up excellent facilities with spacious classrooms, Laboratories Specialized Veterinary Clinic, dairy and meat plants, Library and Information Systems , Center for Computing and Communication Systems (Satellite Dish, Cable TV, Fax, telephony, inter-and intranet, etc.). in addition to recreation, parks, sports venues, athletic tread, multiple courts, gym, soccer fields and The Haven: Production under cover, Pig Production, Sheep Production Unit, Wildlife Research Laboratory, CENIACUA, Production Avian and Rabbit Meat Production System.

In 1995 , guided by the desire to universalize their fields of action, the organization changes its name to University Corporation CUDC Applied Sciences .

The continued growth, based on the voluntary accreditation of the Ministry of Education to several of our academic programs , and strict adherence to principles that address the felt needs of our rapidly changing society and the world, resulted in the recognition as University awarded by the Ministry of Education on December 29, 2004 , and received deserved achievement after 21 years of effort and academic excellence. Since then the name of the institution became a University of Applied Sciences UDCA . This credit is reflected not only academically but also in improving the infrastructure with the acquisition of new facilities : in 2002 , the Headquarters Calle 72 is rented, the following year to 170,000 mt expansion by the purchase of a new facility located off the south campus. And in 2005 , the purchase of land located three blocks from the headquarters, known as the Eastern Headquarters .

The assets of the University is not only strong from a financial standpoint, it is also spiritually, it is currently responsible Monsignor Juan Miguel Huertas Escallón. The UDCA is an autonomous university, because it offers a cultural public service, based on the principles of the national constitution (Art. 67.68, 69) and Law 30 of 1992 (Art. 2, 3).
Is pluralistic and democratic because it accepts anyone with sufficient preparation, regardless of race, creed, gender, social status, political or economic.
Seeks to transform society by providing alternative solutions to the social, economic, political and cultural development through the coordination of the functions of research, teaching and extension.

Directs its actions towards marginalized communities, encouraging active participation processes through which aims to improve quality of life of communities at the regional, local and national levels.

Promotes the building of a university with a high social commitment in the sense of contributing to the transformation of society, under the principles of democracy, fairness and respect for human rights.
Form conscious and responsible citizens equipped with a humanistic culture community, environmentalists and scientists, able to defend, enhance and disseminate the values, thus strengthening the culture and regional and national identity and preserving environmental resources for future generations.

Assumes the scientific and technological knowledge from a humanistic conception rate that allows the student will not be indifferent to the social, cultural and axiological the country in which we live, establishing a permanent relationship with our historical and cultural heritage.
Encourages the development of academic excellence through motivation, responsibility, autonomy and the analytical sense, it contributes to building their own knowledge.
