The Antioch School of Engineering was founded on February 14, 1978 by a group of 27 distinguished engineers from public, private, academia and business. Its purpose was to create an institution of higher education to teach in engineering excellence, in a convivial atmosphere, ensuring the ethical and the development of values of the company engineers claimed. Throughout its history, the EIA has been characterized by the training of professionals of the highest quality academic and personal.

Academic work began on January 29, 1979 with 38 students enrolled in Civil Engineering. The new institution received 20,120 legal by order of November 12, 1979. In 1982 he started in 1992 Geological Engineering and Engineering Management. Began in 1994 Industrial Engineering and Environmental Engineering, in 1998, Computer Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, the latter in agreement with the CES, in 2004 Mechatronics Engineering, and in 2006 began Biology, also in agreement with the CES.

Graduate programs were initiated in 1998 with a specialization in Management of Production and Service, which was followed by the Specialization in Engineering Business Management. In 2001 began the Specialization in Corporate Finance in 2002, Specialization in Urban Management and Processes, in 2003 the Global Markets Management specialization, and in 2006 the Specialization in Management of Engineering is replaced with a Specialization in Management Project.

In recent years, applied research has gained momentum and has an adequate and competitive research groups classified by Colciencias who develop projects aimed at useful results for the industry and the community.

The organization, concerned with the updating of professionals, offers a wide range of options in Continuing Education. Also, the EIA provides advisory services and consulting in several fields of engineering.

Consistent with the ideals of its founders, in terms of solidarity and social sensitivity, the school promotes the full social work community, seeking to raise the quality of life for communities in need, through support to NGOs that operate in sectors marginalized.

The EIA community was characterized by students and alumni have creators and managers of their own companies, which are encouraged with the support of the Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

In support of the quality of the educational process, we obtained the high quality accreditation for programs in Engineering Management, Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Industrial Engineering and Biomedical Engineering, first in the country of its kind to receive this distinction. In addition, its other undergraduate and graduate programs were leaders in obtaining quality records, thus became the first institution of higher education in the country to ensure that all programs have qualified accreditation or registration.

Our latest achievement is awarded Institutional Accreditation by the Ministry of Education under Resolution 2203 of March 30, 2010, which places us in a select few national group of schools with high quality processes.

With all this, the School of Engineering of Antioquia is fulfilling its mission which is summarized in the motto of BE, KNOW and SERVE


The Antioch School of Engineering is a private institution of higher education, nonprofit, whose mission is the training of professionals of the highest quality for undergraduate and graduate programs, promoting applied research and interaction with environment, which seeks the technological, economic, cultural and social mainstream.

As an academic community fosters global vision, creativity, teamwork, improving quality of life and respect for the environment, following the principles of ethics and justice.
