The Admission and Registration Sub-Department of Curriculum is the academic and administrative unit, whose main objective is the students through many activities and services for the proper linking students with their university in administrative and regulatory aspects.
The Sub-Department of Admissions is a central agency, under the Academic Vice, which is responsible for organizing, regulating and supervising the administrative management support to the teaching carried out by academic units, which is linked to permanently, in all subjects relating to the Estates Student, from admission of students and to their degree. Therefore, we can say that ARC is concerned about the academic life of all UMCE students, whether undergraduate, graduate and special programs in accordance with the Regulations, Plans and Programs of Study.

• The Admission and Registration Sub-Department of Curriculum, is also responsible for collecting all the information that regulates the Admissions Process via PSU, published in the newspaper "El Mercurio", now the official organ of the state university admissions and Admission of Special Programs. Registration of new and old students of the University
• Give the student certification request (regular student, concentrations of letters, programs, expenditures for record title, etc..) In a timely and reliable, according to the Curriculum and the existing database.
• Ensure compliance with regulations pertaining to students about their curriculum, their academic progress and administrative (Postponement of Studies, reinstatements, waivers, approvals, academic load, etc.).

Considering also Quotas (sports highlights, disabled, musical artistic talents, etc.) And Special Revenue (Transfers, Transfers, Income with professional degrees, etc..)

It is administered by the University Corporation for Advanced Network development (UCAID). REUNA2 is a 155Mbps ATM network, that understanding can be divided into "the core" and "access." The backbone network is based on ten Cisco LS1010 ATM switches interconnected by SDH transport network CTC Mundo.
Access (REUNA Consortium member universities) are a set of ATM switches and routers LS1010 7204, both of Cisco, interconnected via fiber optic backbone for the team. An exception here at the University of Magellan which is interconnected via a serial link from Punta Arenas to Santiago.
This network can provide broadband services (ATM native) to universities, in addition to traditional services (IP), which implies that it must ensure the interaction of both levels of protocol, and implement quality control in both layers, guarantee or control the services rendered.
Along with the above, there is a management platform that enables centralized monitoring and make changes when required to remotely, and receive alerts and statistics on the behavior of the network.

Virtual University Project is the establishment of a joint effort by several universities, to improve the quality of teaching and learning methods, using distance education technologies.

These technologies are many and their use will depend on the methodological requirements of the content to teach. However, Virtual University favors those that combine the characteristics and potential of the traditional university with which today offer modern media.
The sum of the potentials and characteristics of the college classroom with distance learning technologies, resulting in the creation of virtual spaces within the university. Thanks to these new virtual communities are formed between students in different campuses scattered, without the student loses his membership of the university.
Is a convergence between tradition and modernity in which recreates the relationship of person to the classroom and kept the teacher-student and student-student, in a dialogue that allows deferred not maintain contacts socializing traditional university and acquire others that provides the virtual community.
Are part of the Virtual University Project, the National University Network Consortium, gathers, and the Universidad Austral de Chile, Concepcion, Bio Bio, Chile, Technological Metropolitana, Metropolitan Educational Sciences, Valparaiso, La Serena and Atacama.
These universities, by far, are those with interconnecting rooms, interactive videoconferencing for education or semi-virtual presence. The headquarters for the coordination of Virtual University also has a videoconferencing room, bringing the room total reaches 10, with a combined capacity of over a thousand seats.

Virtual University has the following objectives:

Improving the quality of teaching and learning methods.
Put the university at the height of modern culture, educating for communication and coexistence.
Enter college in the media to become part actively in the creation of culture and the phenomena of globalization and integration that characterize postmodernity.
Encourage the production of educational material excellence, blended and distance learning technologies, so it can be used by other universities or educational organizations both in Chile and abroad.
Exploit the educational and cultural development of large existing study centers outside of Chile to bring to our universities, to promote equal opportunities, the use of these resources and the incorporation of the university to the Information Society.
To realize these objectives, REUNA makes available to the Virtual University REUNA2 broadband network, ATM technology. This allows you to connect to the nine universities associated with the Project and the Board of the Central Coordination of Virtual University. The infrastructure provided by REUNA2 allows the highest quality voice, image and sound in all theaters of the system.
Virtual University also has a gate ISDN (Integrated Services Digital Network), which interconnect the closed system allows video conferencing with other possible points located in Chile and abroad, thus opening the possibility to attend international events and distribute to each of the boards involved in this initiative.
This reality, which approaches the Chilean academic community to the Information Society, will be firmly established with the Internet2 connection. This will give the opportunity to link to the Virtual University academic networks with high-speed academic networks in the U.S., Europe and Asia. REUNA also provides a Virtual University hours of engineering and management.
In turn, the universities contribute to met 50% of infrastructure facilities, including the time, the administration and operation thereof. The commitment tends to make the organizational structure of the system continuously deliver the service and thus can expand the supply of educational products based on a consolidated model prices.
This offer is directed not only to universities that are part of Virtual University but also to all instances that require training or educational training, and public sector bodies, businesses and national or international.
