REUNA2 is a 155Mbps ATM network, that understanding can be divided into "the core" and "access." The backbone network is based on ten Cisco LS1010 ATM switches interconnected by SDH transport network CTC Mundo.
Access (REUNA Consortium member universities) are a set of ATM switches and routers LS1010 7204, both of Cisco, interconnected via fiber optic backbone for the team. An exception here at the University of Magellan which is interconnected via a serial link from Punta Arenas to Santiago.
This network can provide broadband services (ATM native) to universities, in addition to traditional services (IP), which implies that it must ensure the interaction of both levels of protocol, and implement quality control in both layers, guarantee or control the services rendered.
Along with the above, there is a management platform that enables centralized monitoring and make changes when required to remotely, and receive alerts and statistics on the behavior of the network.
