The creation of the Universidad de Talca, October 26, 1981, was the main milestone in the institutional existence of this University.

Its origin as a public college is deeply rooted in the regional community and dates back beyond the merger of the former headquarters of the State Technical University and the University of Chile that gave it birth.

The first attempts to create a university in Talca are in the early years of independence, when the Abate Juan Ignacio Molina donated her inheritance to support the study of physics, astronomy, mathematics and navigation.

In 1955, he thwarted the initiative to create a School of Arts and Crafts, similar to that which existed in Santiago and early twentieth century came other attempts to found a university.

Some records indicate that a project of this type feared by Enrique Molina Garmendia, who was rector of the Lyceum of Men of Talca, founded in 1827 as College Literature, "but the idea finally took place in Concepción.

Since its founding, the University of Talca is a public institution that enjoys an undisputed reputation among regional and national community.

His career as an educational entity has been a bridge of development, as it sucked at Talca and talquinas those that prompted its creation many years ago, convinced that the progress of the city, the area and its inhabitants, was linked to the existence of a university.

The University of Talca is now a mature project. It has a route that makes more than worthy of recognition enjoyed by local, national and international.

Women and men have been instrumental in building a solid and extensive project, which is a legacy for their daughters and sons of the region and country.

On top of these human groups were academics and professionals who took responsibility for directing the destinies of the University.

Driving to each of them knew him rhythm, and the high quality seal, allowing you to place our House of Studies in the seat currently occupied.
