The University of Santiago de Chile, star of the knowledge society and development.

A university is a living organization, a coherent whole, where each of its sides is vital, since this integrity comes strength and ability to transcend. This has been the conviction of those who have guided the destiny of the University of Santiago de Chile. Hence in each of the stages that mark its 161 years of history, constitutes a legacy undisputed contribution to the development of the country and its people.

Today, when the country faces increasing global integration process, the University advances the professional needs of the market, increasing its links with the external environment and diversify its academic offerings, totaling 64 runs the undergraduate programs fifty graduate and more than 200 continuing education. A first-rate faculty, where 80 percent have a doctoral degree, master's or doctor, is responsible for training students in its seven faculties, the School of Architecture and Bachelor's Degree Program.

University's contribution to knowledge, as well as technical assistance and human resources training is oriented through the Vice Presidency of Research and Development. Working to bring research policies and coordinating the actions that the institution is running in this field such as project management of science and technology, general administration of graduate programs, academic improvement, scientific and cultural exchange and management technology.

It has also been a priority concern at continuing education alternatives for technicians and professionals who need to update knowledge and technological innovations that offer progressively incorporate production and service companies.

Today, the University of Santiago de Chile faces the challenges of the XXI century institutionally accredited by the National Commission on Accreditation of Undergraduate-CNAP, with disciplinary diversity, academic excellence and research, strong links with national and international environment with emphasis on humanistic values in their professional training d.
