History of the Universidad de Los Lagos
Universidad de Los Lagos is an institution of government, autonomous regional, serving the community since August 30, 1993, when it was created by Law 19,238, under the government of President Patricio Aylwin Azocar.
However, despite the youth of his nomination today, this university has a long history with settlement in the city of Osorno, X Region of Los Lagos. First, as the site of the University of Chile, since 1965, and later, beginning in 1981 as Instituto Profesional de Osorno.
In 1992 he presented the project to create the current University of Los Lagos, fusing the academic history of Osorno and Puerto Montt, where they build their bases as a new higher education institution under the State.
Teaching, Research, Extension, Production, Management and Services, are among its main priorities as an organization, always with the priority of delivering vocational training according to current quality standards in modern society, and along with it equipped infrastructure cutting-edge technology and a university environment that fosters the full development of each student and the university community in general.
With more than 20,000 students enrolled, divided into its main strategic points in Osorno, Puerto Montt, and Santiago, the Universidad de Los Lagos today is leading the research conducted at the national, college athletics in a wide variety of recreational and competitive disciplines, and offers an attractive range of careers in local and regional relevance not only in the traditional undergraduate area, but also in training for workers, and graduate technical degrees.
