We are a Salesian college, accredited and with 28 years experience in higher education, which began in 1982 with the founding of the Professional Institute of Advanced Studies Blas Cañas, work led by Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez.
Since 1991 we college, first as Blas Cañas and since 1999 we have the name of our inspiration, renowned for his work in educating young people and to defend human rights.
We are proud to follow the path of Cardinal Silva Henriquez, forming the first professionals in thousands of Chilean families, giving them a quality education regardless of socioeconomic limitations.
We believe that the student is the protagonist in their learning process and support to enhance its vocation and strengthen their skills. Our training model gives you the opportunity to build their own curriculum, by having a greater number of elective curricular activities and spaces for self.
The applied UCSH Preventive System of Don Bosco's pedagogy, which seeks growth of young inner freedom and overcoming the external formalities, to do good.
The center of our work is the development of youth, an option that cuts across all activities of this university, seeking to facilitate the learning process and overcome their difficulties.

Universidad Católica Silva Henríquez, from Don Bosco's educational ideology and dream of Chile, the legacy of Cardinal Silva Henriquez, wants to be recognized as an inclusive and innovative university, which guides their teaching, research and links with the knowledge, protection and promotion of youth, family, human ecology and the common good.
1982: The Institute started its activities Blas Cañas, UCSH predecessor, with strong support from Cardinal Raúl Silva Henríquez. Formally extinguished December 31, 1996, titled after a 6309 professional.
1990: January 15 is officially recognized by the Ministry of Education called Blas Cañas University.
1991: September 9, the Ministry of Education authorized its operation, which began in 1992 academically.
1993: Episcopal Conference of Chile recognized the Universidad Católica Blas Cañas (January). In July of that year adopted general statutes. Since that time, officially became active partners Episcopal Conference of Chile and the Salesians of Chile.
1998-1999: University ran to the Higher Education Council (CSE) for the full academic autonomy and functional (December). However, the agency decided to extend for three years of this monitoring process.
1999: Amends the General Statutes, having signed an Institutional Agreement between the active members, commending themselves to the Salesian its senior management. In tribute to the founder of this educational work is officially approved the name of Catholic University Cardinal Raul Silva Henriquez (August 11).
2001: Elaboration and adoption of the Strategic Development Plan 2002 to 2005. Approving the reorganization of the Government of the University.
2002: Promulgation of the Strategic Development Plan 2002-2005. We began to study the amendment of the General Statutes of the University.
January 2003: The CSE provides full autonomy to the Universidad Católica Cardenal Raúl Silva Henríquez.
October 2005: The National Accreditation Commission (CNAP) gives the UCSH Accreditation in the field of Institutional Management and Teaching Conducive to title until October 11, 2008. Simultaneously, the University began its process of accreditation of undergraduate programs.
April 2006: The Episcopal Conference of Chile decided to officially hand over all management of the university to the Salesians.
December 2006: They are all accredited Education programs who participated in the proceedings before the National Accreditation Commission (CNAP). In September the University Council approved the Strategic Development Plan 2006 - 2010, which seeks to deepen the institutional project and move decisively in the areas of teaching, research and social connectedness.
September 2007: The UCSH celebrates 25 years of experience in higher education. The University also celebrated with a series of activities the 100th birthday of Cardinal Raul Silva Henriquez, the main event was held at the Plaza de Armas in Santiago on 27 September with the assistance of the President of Chile Michelle Bachelet and representatives of the most diverse sectors of our country is also made release of literary and a cantata that seek to perpetuate his legacy.
October 2008: Our college received accreditation again in the areas of Governance and undergraduate teaching, this time for a period of four years (until October 2012) and was awarded by the National Accreditation Commission, CNA.
