University of Arts and Social Sciences, ARCIS, invites you to join a higher education project alive with the stamp of academic quality and innovation. Since 1981, our education has been in constant review and critical approach to new knowledge, new approaches and new perspectives on academic work, typical of the twenty-first century universities, and has been validated in 2010 with accreditation in the areas of Institutional Management and Teaching Degree leading to the National Accreditation Commission.

We are a university that has as one of its main objectives to deliver an education that does not tolerate any form of discrimination, which promotes social inclusion, which places the student as its focus and concern, providing all the support, training and requirements necessary for achieve their academic development and successful completion of the training process of Higher Education.

We are a House of Studies defining critical, reflective and diverse. Our project is conceived to the University as a great intellectual project. A project where teaching, research and academic outreach, art and culture are the very nature of this area of higher education.

We are a university that is characterized by a collective thinking of his university and who assumes the new social, political, cultural and intellectual in which they must develop our future professionals.

We are proud to say that we are a private university with public vocation and we aim to train professionals capable, solvent free and independent thinkers for a more friendly country, humanity and solidarity. At the same time, we said we want to train people who have their own visions of the country in which they live and their own disciplines, so we are careful and thoughtful about the changes that are occurring in society and contemporary culture.

Because our academic project is based on humanistic principles and philosophies, and because we want to be part of those who built the face of that other more just and liberating Chile that require and demand the new generations, we invite you to join University of Arts and Sciences Social ARCIS.


The mission of University of Arts and Social Sciences - ARCIS is to train professionals in the field of arts, social sciences, humanities and education, they acquire a solid foundation of knowledge and practices necessary to successfully face its challenges and contribute to labor development of societies in which they conduct their work. This training is conducted in the metropolitan area, in a plural and inclusive academic space, with a vocation for social inclusion.


ARCIS University aspires to be recognized as an institution of higher education, with optimal performance in its task of training graduate and postgraduate professionals in the field of arts, social sciences, humanities and education. It also aims linked to society as it provides academic reference from the areas of relevance.


The principles on which to build the proposed University of Arts and Social Sciences - ARCIS are:

1 .- Universidad Arcis has accumulated historical and cultural prestige of his career in the fields of arts, social sciences and education, so it aims to maintain its humanistic perspective.

2 .- ARCIS University, states that it respects academic freedom of opinion and thought, encourages the exercise of critical reflection and is opposed to all political and ideological indoctrination.

3. Universidad Arcis is a space that promotes sustainable development and inclusive of all sectors of society, with special emphasis on the most vulnerable sectors of it, thus promoting the culture and respect for human rights. It also plans to complex practice of equal opportunities and elimination of all forms of discrimination.

4. University does not discriminate ARCIS social and culturally in the selection of students and proposes the expenditure of students with a cultural base, knowledge, skills and practices that prepare them to successfully address the complex challenges and working professionals in today's society.

5 .- ARCIS University attaches particular importance to strengthening our university project moving in a policy that promotes the active participation and commitment of the entire community in building the project.

6 .- Universidad Arcis drives interaction with society through the creation and expansion of networks of collaboration and partnership with other educational institutions, research and cultural, government agencies and private companies, civic organizations and social communities of interest, for the purpose of achieve a strong link to the environment.


The Strategic Guidelines are declared, are consistent with the Mission and Vision and attached to the reality of this university, which will materialize in the Institutional Development Plan 2008-2012.

1 .- Strengthen participatory institutions and legitimized by the community, making it more effective in fulfilling the mission, the strategic guidelines of the University, and the operation of its academic and administrative units.

2 .- To develop a culture of self-assessment and continuous improvement of the quality of administrative and academic management within the framework of the principles of the institution as indicators of the CNA for accreditation.

3 .- To modernize the administrative and strengthen economic and financial sustainability of the institution.

4 .- Center project development ARCIS university in the metropolitan area.

5 .- To focus the work of the institution in the training and support of the student throughout their university life in the context of an educational institution with a clear focus on social inclusion.

6 .- Progress in the strengthening of a stable faculty, dedicated teachers, and increasing academic excellence and educational curricula relevant to professionals involved.

7 .- To improve the quality and continually update professional education programs to achieve increased coverage of core knowledge areas of academic activity ARCIS Universiade.
