Universidade Luterana do Brasil

University description (as per official university website)

Maintained by St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church - CELSP, the Lutheran University of Brazil - ULBRA - focuses on education. Since the first school, founded in 1911 until today, ULBRA be characterized by an institution devoted to the future, always seeking to modernize its infrastructure and teaching resources.

Thus, the institution moves to provide quality services for students, teachers, professionals and community members.

The foundation of St. Paul School in 1911 by German immigrants, had several goals, among which stood out to meet the immediate needs of education for their children and thus prepare them for life in society. Thus was born the ULBRA parochial school.

The Lutheran University of Brazil - ULBRA is a denominational Christian university, whose philosophical and theoretical frameworks are found in the Scriptures, the Bible. In matters of faith and Christian life the Bible is the absolute authority.

From this principle the authority of God's Word, the University has a theoretical conception of God, the universe, human beings, human society and education as a process of socialization and training of human beings.

In his conception of God, it holds that there is a personal God Triune, three persons in one divine essence, Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

We believe and confess, as the Ecumenical Apostolic Creed, which all humans are God's special creatures. This vision creates a gap in human relationships. With a Christian humanist vision, not see ourselves as mere accidents biological or physical bodies, but as individuals have worth and dignity because they are the work of the Creator. So we also want to see and treat our fellow man.

We believe and confess that Jesus Christ, the Son of God is the Redeemer and Savior of all through his death and his willing sacrifice on our behalf. The Holy Spirit is what enables us to believe this truth. Faith is God's gift.

One hallmark of our University is to questioning, permanently, the ultimate reason for making education and training, because we are not and do not want to be a company that sells education aimed at economic profit. Profit is a means to an end.

What is that purpose? A project of life.

The design and educational activities ULBRA are serving a life better, more humane, and building a more just society, here and now. However, a Christian charity does not stop there. Besides aiming to earthly life, it also aims at life from the perspective of the kingdom of God, that is, provides students, faculty and staff the project life and love of God.

That's the difference. We want to bring our students the knowledge, in terms of life in this world, and also of life in the world to come, "the new heaven and earth, prepared by God for us in eternity. This is our perception of comprehensive education. This fact frees to a life of faith, hope and love.

Mission

The ULBRA assumed to Institutional Mission develop, disseminate and preserve knowledge and culture through teaching, research and extension permanently seeking excellence in meeting the training needs of professionals and entrepreneurs in the areas of education, health and technology.

Future Vision

Being a referral institution for higher education in each locality in which it operates and be among the top ten in the country
