It begins in the 70s in Guarapuava, concern for the preservation of historical documents in archives.
In UNICENTRO this concern was with the participation of teachers in the History Department and the Municipality of Guarapuava. From these concerns, there is UNICENTRO in the institutionalization of the Historical Archives and the Municipality is in May 1989 that the then Hon. Mr. Fernando Ribas Carli sanctions the Law 67/89 of 1989 establishing the Municipal Historical Archive. The UNICENTRO then becomes a guardian of the documents belonging to the Municipal Historical Archive, thereby consolidating the movement for the preservation of collections relating to historical documents.
The Historical Archives of Guarapuava UNICENTRO is located in an organ and is open to the community that aims to ensure the efficiency of production processes, maintenance and availability of these archival documents, because they provide evidence of actions contributing to the expansion of registered memory of a community or society, to maintain cultural information, historical, scientific, technical, economic and administrative.
For these activities and the quality of his collection is the Historical Archives Guarapuava is already recognized nationally and has increasingly received the attention of people from different regions of the country in search of their documentation.
ACQUIS
Its collection consists of documents produced in the nineteenth and twentieth centuries, both in the region Guarapuava, as well as by national institutions. Can be highlighted in the collection the following archival documents: correspondence of the judiciary, accounting documents, electoral documents, architectural plans, collection of laws of the empire, matching the city government, individual funds, photographs, newspapers, magazines, proceedings of the 1st and 2nd Court Civil and Criminal 2 nd, diverse documentation donated by the community.
