The installation of the University of Vale, on March 21, 1989, was, in fact, natural sequence of the path of Higher Education in Itajai and the region. This story began in 1964. From September 16 this year the record date of the first official document of the Company Itajaí Higher Education, which provided for the operation of two faculties: the Faculty of Law and Social Sciences and the School of Philosophy, Sciences and Letters. On September 22 the Company ceases to be private enterprise to become, via Municipal Law, a public institution.
On October 25, 1968 is published Municipal Law 892, establishing a Municipal Authority for Education and Culture of the city of Itajai. In 1970, the Authority is transformed into the Polo Education Foundation Geoeducacional of Vale (Fepevi). In 1986, the Schools of Isolated Law and Social Sciences, Philosophy, Sciences and Letters, and Nursing and Midwifery are transformed into Integrated Faculties of Santa Catarina coast (Filcat).
On February 16, 1989, the Filcat becomes Universidade do Vale do Itajai, through Ministerial Decree 51/89, and March 21 is officially installed. Provided University, Univali replaced by autonomy for the opening of new courses - one of the factors that drove to become the largest institution of higher education in the state.
Leaving the realm of ideas to reality, the institution came to occupy its space and its social importance and to show its commitment to reducing social inequalities and promoting quality of life in their area. In October of that year, Fepevi, Municipal Law No. 2515, is transformed into a Foundation University of Vale do Itajai - entity maintains the Univali.
The hallmark of the trajectory of Higher Education form in Itajaí was officially celebrated on September 22, 1964, when the Society Itajaí Higher Education (Sies) was transformed into a public institution by the municipal law 599/64.
A few days earlier, on September 16, the Sies had their status notarized, but as a private institution. Its transformation into a public entity was the most appropriate solution to enable the educational enterprise that aimed to deploy the initial faculties of Law and Social Sciences of Vale, and Philosophy, Sciences and Letters of Vale.
The procedure of the Sies to link the creation of schools of higher education to the municipal government was adopted in other cities in the state, giving rise years later the Santa Catarina Association of Educational Foundations (ACAF), founded in 1974.
The establishment of two colleges, however, was already foreseen in the objectives of the status of the Company, completed two years earlier, on November 5, 1962, an evolution of the goals of another institution: the Society Professor Flavio Ferrari.
Society Professor Flávio Ferrari - SPFF
The Itajaí Society of Higher Education - SIES - it originated in November 5, 1962, Culture Day, from a statutory change in the Society Professor Flávio Ferrari - SPFF - which had been founded on May 8, 1950. The document was signed by Dr. José Medeiros Vieira, at the time chairman, and Dr. Hélio Rosa, president of the Social Council. Dr. Nestor Cesar de Carvalho was another name associated from the beginning, the dream of the implementation of higher education in Itajai.
The purpose of SPFF was "the improvement of moral culture, civic, intellectual and physical Itajaí community, especially the youth." The organization held the School Professor Flávio Ferrari - EPFF - which began its activities in llective August 15, 1950, the second report contained in the Management Report of the Education Foundation of the Pole Geoeducacional of Vale - FEPEVI (1983-1985).
The SPFF offered courses free of maturity, technical trading, SENAC, literacy courses and exams preparations for admission and entrance exams, the latter performed at the time, just in Florianopolis, capital of Santa Catarina, or in other capitals of neighboring states, as Rio Grande do Sul and Parana, and the Southeast of Brazil, like Rio and Sao Paulo.
Aiming to expand its objectives and meet local demand and regional growth, the Company established the Professor Flávio Ferrari SIES, "for the dissemination of university-level education within the State of Santa Catarina, especially in the City and County of Itajai, throughout Vale do Itajai-Acu and the Itajaí-Mirim, "according to the report FEPEVI. |
