A bit of History

The UNIGUAÇU - UNION OF HIGHER EDUCATION OF IGUAZU - LTD. Was founded on March 24, 1999 by a group of academics and businessmen in the region linked to the educational sector who have realized the need to offer the region, opportunities for academic development and cultural, plus an option to those who had no chance to move to other centers to complement their studies.

Recognizing these and other regional aspirations, both in developing new areas for higher education, and training needs qualified to meet the rapid development that the region is getting, conceived and developed this project.

For this reason he created and maintains the UNIGUAÇU FAES - College of Higher Education of Sao Miguel do Iguacu, which obtained the authorization to run through the Ministerial Decree - No 391/2000 MEC - Gazette published on 22/03/2000. Initially, the FAES was conceived as a faculty at a regional level, comprising the municipalities of Matelândia, Ramilândia, Serranópolis Iguaçu, Mediatrix, Missal, Sao Miguel do Iguacu, Itaipulândia, St. Helena and Santa Terezinha de Itaipu.

Its headquarters the city of Sao Miguel do Iguacu, for being located in the center of the micro-region and cited the BR-277. Named College of Micro-Region of the Itaipu Lake, only for reasons of educational legislation, can not be authorized under this name, but anyway the UNIGUAÇU / FAES is occupying this space and already characterized as a Faculty multi-cities today, including, besides those mentioned above, the municipalities of Blue Sky, Diamond West, Vera Cruz do Oeste, Entre Rios Iguacu and Foz do Iguacu, where moving large quantities of students.

He started his academic activity on April 10, 2000, with only two courses, and Tourism Administration, both at night. Subsequently implanted with the courses Information Systems, Geography, Accounting, Physical Education and Higher Normal - Initial Series of Elementary and Early Childhood Education, Pedagogy and last.

Thanks to the actions of his supporters, who have no measuring efforts and resources, UNIGUAÇU / FAES, so called, is with its campus located in an area of 142.500m ². It has 71 classrooms, and the building area is already over 13,000 m² and is fully equipped to serve its students in various courses, thus summing up a small portion of his bold projeto.Além construction of classrooms and facilities structure needed for its operation, the UNIGUAÇU / FAES has the following laboratories in: Anatomy, Biology, Physiology, Equipment for athletics, Cartography, Computer Labs, Laboratory of Accounting, Clinical School, Toy, gym, cafe Dance Room, for the practice of Judo, Curriculum and Laboratory practices for Teaching Undergraduate and Junior Company. Also completed: Food Court, Leisure Plaza, Library with 1,300 m2 and Athletics Track with official measures of CBA - Brazilian Athletics Confederation. In the deployment phase, the following laboratories: Tourism and Physical Geography.

In addition, projects were developed for building: Gymnasium and Amphitheater exclusively for educational, sports facilities and open sand and swimming pool.

In the middle phase of growth UNIGUAÇU / FAES receive daily encouragement to expand their goals, and anticipate them as needed to monitor the growth of this vibrant region. In its eighth year of existence, in addition to undergraduate courses, created the Program Graduate "Lato Sensu". For this and for believing in the future of this region is that from the beginning substantiate their purposes with the following goals:

disseminate, implement and improve education and culture;
organize, promote and manage courses responsive to the needs of the professional market;
act with innovative teaching methodologies and the best technology available;
modern mechanisms to ensure the development of vocational education students, and their relationship with the labor market;
use the physical infrastructure and technology, according to the conditions and needs.

The UNIGUAÇU / FAES is, as already stated, located in geographically privileged area. Has appropriate physical infrastructure, library equipped with computers, networking and Internet access with unique link twenty-four hours for use by students, teachers and members of the student community and civil. In offering courses in operation and deployment of new groupings, is the highest quality standards from those established by the MEC.
