The University Salvador - UNIFACS is private higher education institution based in Salvador, Bahia. Founded in 1972 under the name School of Business Administration of Bahia, UNIFACS is maintained by the FACS.

The University and its accreditation was in 1997, with the assent by unanimous vote of the National Education Council (CNE) and Presidential Decree of 18 September the same year, published in the Official Gazette on the date of September 19, 1997 .

The University offers undergraduate courses Full and Undergraduate Technology, in the manner and distance, and post-graduation courses (Majors and MBA's) and stricto sensu (master and doctorate), which are accredited by the Coordination of Improvement of Higher Education Personnel (Capes). The university also offers free courses for extension and professional certifications in the area of Information Technology.

The UNIFACS became the first institution of higher education accredited in the state of Bahia for the offering of courses in the distance, having already in operation, two undergraduate and two technology.

In the area of Engineering, the University is offering the largest number of undergraduate courses in the state, with a total of 8 (eight).

Regarding the search, the institution has 38 institutionalized groups and registered in CNPq's Lattes Platform, distributed in two main areas of expertise: Engineering and Computer Science and Applied Social Sciences and Humanities.

The extension area develops projects that contribute to improving the living conditions of the community, respecting and developing their values. To do so, is active in promoting scientific and cultural, continuing education, community action and social programs developed in partnerships with government agencies, social organizations and enterprises.

The UNIFACS is one of the largest institutions of higher education in Bahia and is recognized in the community mainly by its regional vocation, training with emphasis on areas of technology and fostering entrepreneurship.

The research integrates with other education and extension activities through undergraduate research for students, development of teachers and researchers of the huge amount of knowledge transferred to society in the form of training and consulting aimed at public agencies, businesses and the community in various ways.

Today UNIFACS develops projects with research funding agencies, sectoral funds from the Ministry of Science and Technology, Financing of Studies and Projects (FINEP) and has partnered with companies and organizations with a strong technological base. Its researchers maintain participation in cooperative research networks involving universities and regional and national companies, coupled with the establishment of exchanges with doctoral programs of excellence, which contributes to the ongoing enhancement of its staff.

In June 2010, UNIFACS became part of Laureate International Universities Network , the largest educational group of private higher education in the world, present in 21 countries in North America, Central America, South America, Europe and Asia. The network consists of over 50 institutions offering programs at undergraduate and postgraduate students in 550 000 worldwide.

Encourage group work and integration of various areas, as key to achieving the BJECTIVES the institution;
Insert the employee to assist in the teaching-learning process of students.


Search constant interaction with society, to understand and meet their needs;

Food critical awareness of the institution in relation to society;

Enhance the research as a means of systematic production of socially relevant knowledge, and extension activities as a means of disseminating this knowledge.


Keep abreast of technological developments, always putting it in the service of the educational process.


Establish that each member of the academic community is responsible for the quality and viability of the activities of the institution.
