Little was known in Olinda, in the year 1968, the city had been one of the cradles of law courses in Brazil. Founded in 1827, year of birth of the republic proclaims the Marshal Deodoro da Fonseca, Sao Paulo and in parallel at the Monastery of St. Benedict at the behest of Emperor Dom Pedro II, the college years later migrate to the city of Recife. Even then a freshman at the Law School of Recife, Inacio de Barros Melo decided to give the city an institution which did reverence to its past history.

The year 1968 was one of the most crucial periods of history both Brazil and other countries. It was marked chiefly by the famous student movement "May 68" in France, which led to secular Souborne College to be closed by authorities. Inspiration for the "march of 100,000, which in Rio de Janeiro had success being one of the first demonstrations against the military dictatorship. Last year was a severe defeat for democracy with the Act Unconstitutional 5 (AI-5), but also light of hope with the founding of the Law Faculty of Olinda (FADO).

In keeping with his visionary legacy, the Fado has grown to become years later the Association of Higher Education in Olinda (AESO) and now the Integrated Schools Barros Melo. Besides one of the more traditional law courses in the country, the institution also became a lecturer in the areas of Administration, Advertising, Journalism and Information Systems. She also pioneered with the first courses in the Northeast Photography, Fine Arts, Record Production, Radio, TV and Internet, Telecommunications and the first in Brazil Animated Film.

Courses that have arisen as a reflection of the structure built in the Faculty, one of the few in the state of Pernambuco. Radio and television studios with digital technology, photo labs, printing and telecommunications, more than 250 computers available for students, equipped with software that will program the advanced treatment of images. More than 50 air-conditioned classrooms and beeper, auditorium for 500 people and a movie theater for 260 people, a stage for theatrical performances, film screenings, lectures and debates.

Space that is occupied by a faculty consisting of professors as well as master's and doctorate, has direct intervention in the labor market in each area. Today, the institution organizes over 50 events each year, most of them free and open to the public, focused on several areas of knowledge. Moreover, the institution develops partnerships with several companies of cultural production - such as the Cultural Initiatives Astronave that develops along with the Festival Feedback Barros Melo - and technology like Microsoft, Oracle and Toon Boom.

With so much history and performance, as is conventionally said that anyone who knows the Melo Barros surprised. However, surprising even those who are part of that history, whether as student, teacher, employee or partner of one of the most modern educational institutions in Pernambuco.
