The history of St. Augustine School - FSA - Higher Education opened in 1998. At that time, there were few schools in Teresina. But in the years following the FSA showed that he was ready to meet the expectations of society in which it was inserted.

Today, as one of the best higher education institutions in the Northeast and one of the largest of Piaui, the FSA meets with excellence, the three pillars: education, extension and research.

Given the changes in the contemporary world, the FSA has grown up without giving up their original values based on ethics, pluralism, respect for diversity and social responsibility. In connection with the company, acts as the articulator of regional development. And in a broader perspective, seeks to educate people who make a difference. The incentive for continued education and encouragement to staff and administrative courses it offers, mirrors the great strategic option of the institution: the excellence of its services.

Currently committed to the development of the state, serves on various social responsibility projects, making efforts in the community to preserve the environment and promote economic and cultural growth in the state.

Track, then the key moments in the history of the FSA:

1998
On October 5, 1998, is founded in Teresina (PI), the St. Augustine School - FSA. Focused on the formation of critical and aware of the importance of their work in society, the FSA began its activities in Saint John Campus In 1998, the institution launched its first tryout for the psychology courses - Training Psychologist - and Sciences Economics, which were offered in 160 places, contested by 548 candidates.

2000
In 2000, the FSA launched the first Day of Psychology, bringing together important names in psychology in Brazil. It was the first in a series of major events that marked the history of the course.

2001
In 2000, the institution which already offered courses in Psychology and Economics, with permission of the MEC began offering two new courses: Accounting and Social Communication - Journalism qualification, increasing to 240 the number of vacancies. The entrance exam that year was contested by 726 candidates.
In 2000, it promoted the first Day of Psychology, gathering important names in psychology in Brazil. It was the first in a series of major events that marked the history of the course.

2002
In 2002, more changes in the structure of St. Augustine School, a year marked by a new expansion cycle. The institution has launched two new courses: Law and Normal Superior, with a curriculum for the training of teachers in two majors - Kindergarten and first years of elementary school. To manage the course Normale Superieure, created the Institute of Education St. Augustine. To meet this demand more, the FSA has opened its second campus in the district Piçarra. The course of Directors began work at the Campus Center. That year, the institution began construction on the campus of Kennedy Avenue, the School Psychology Service (EPS) for the practice of clinical psychology for students of psychology.

2003
In the second half of 2003 to meet the growing need, the FSA brought together all the courses at one campus, located in the neighborhood. The new headquarters represented a significant gain in terms of interpersonal relationships, helping to promote a climate of fraternal solidarity and humanist, critical to the establishment of positive results in teaching-learning process.
This year also, the FSA assumed as a research oriented institution, determining factor for the development of consistent teaching and an important basis for innovation and technological progress: in October, during the week of commemoration of 5 years from the FSA the institution promotes its first week of Scientific Research, with the aim of stimulating the production of knowledge in several areas.

2004
In February 2004, it opened the Special Civil Court and Criminal Annex San Pedro, located at the FSA through a partnership with the Court of the State of Piauí. Since then, the Juvenile Court has provided important assistance to the entire population of Central and South Zone this year, also starts working at Radio Showcase, extension project of Journalism course. Space for the practice of the disciplines of Radio journalism, Radio Showcase was also an important opportunity to socialize and to practice the fundamentals achieved in the classroom. In 2004 and 2005, the team performs Showcase Radio Music Festival University, whose goal was to discover new talent. In October 2004, the FSA firm agreement with the Treasury Department to implement the course of Fiscal Education directed to the academic community. The course aims to sensitize students about the importance of taxes in the state.
In 2004, it launched the first scientific publication of the Institution, the Journal FSA, with the production of teachers and students of the FSA and researchers from other HEIs. The Accounting course is recognized by the MEC maximum concept.

2005
The credibility of the College of St. Augustine reaches a maximum points, approved by the quality of its professional and high performance of its graduates in the labor market. In 2005, the FSA takes the cake Brands Unforgettable, best remembered as the faculty in the segment "educational institution".
Loyalty Club is launched by the FSA, a project that benefits the academic community (teachers, students and technical and administrative staff) with discounts for businesses. It is also deployed to the Ombudsman, a service for the academic community of the FSA.
The Journalism course held the first week of Communication, an event which is now held annually. The course of Directors holds the Workshop on Entrepreneurship, an annual event which sampled simulations of companies, fully created and assembled by students.
Keen to support local culture, the FSA began to support projects approved by Law Tito A. Son, associating your brand with about 10 cultural projects in that year alone.

2006
Considering that Teresina constitutes a center of excellence in health, the FSA offer in Vestibular 2006, vacancies for two new courses in health care: Nursing and Physiotherapy. To implement the area that same year the course is approved for Nutrition, which started its academic activities in 2007.

On October 21, 2006, FSA participates for the first time, the Education Officer of the Day, organized by the Brazilian Association of the Maintainers of Higher Education (ABMES). The college has developed on that day with students, faculty and staff of technical and administrative sector, a set of actions with the community's neighborhood.
This year, four courses of St. Augustine School were recognized by the MEC with maximum concept: Psychology, Business, Superior and Journalism.
Agency is established in Organizational Communication, linked to the Communication Center and for the further training of journalism students of the institution.
In 2006, it begins to operate the FSA Online, the service module of the System's Academic School St. Augustine, which allows greater interaction between teachers and students. In November, it held the first Workshop on Vocational Guidance, to guide students on career choices.

2007
In 2007, the institution launched two new courses: Nutrition and Education. In February, there is the inaugural class of undergraduate courses in Education, to train teachers and education professionals. More news in the field of social responsibility: in March this year, focused on expanding access to free legal services to the population, especially in the neighborhood St. Peter, St. Augustine College signs an agreement with the state public defender's an attachment to the sector in the Center for Legal Practice "Rodrigues Coelho." Students of law are to address the causes of competence of the Ombudsman as: child support, recognition of children, separation, among others.

In April, the course of the Faculty of Law Foundation and the St. Augustine Judge Francisco Gomes, promoted the Criminal Law Symposium. The event brought together the top experts in criminal law of the country. That same month, he begins to run the Center for Business Consulting, an agency linked to the Coordination of Bachelor of Administration Launches Program to Support and Development of Micro and Small Enterprises of St. Peter's Neighborhood. Course Management magazine launches of scientific articles " Inova Action "and the Law School Launches Legal Confessions magazine, with articles by teachers and students of the Law of the FSA.

In 2007, the FSA also creates the Center for Distance Education (NEAD) and introducing a blended modality, through which the academic community to explore new avenues for the development of the teaching-learning process.
In November 2007, the St. Augustine School opens registration for Master in Public Sector Economics, to economists, administrators and professionals in related fields. The Professional Master in Public Sector Economics is the result of a partnership with the Graduate Program in Economics, Federal University of Ceará (CAEN / UFC) and the only Professional Masters in Economics from the Northeast recognized and accredited by CAPES. Also in November, students in the 3rd period of Physiotherapy Course, held the 1st Exhibition of Anatomy of the FSA. During the show, gave lectures and organ samples of the human body. And the Faculty of Education conducts the FSA in December, the First Meeting of Pedagogy: Teaching, Research and Extension, to introduce students to the Research Centers and the thematic areas to be focused by the researchers.

2008
In 2008, the FSA consolidates its activities in the district of St. Peter and begins to build the Integrated Health Clinic Carolina Freitas Lira in av. Baron Gurguéia, whose inauguration is scheduled for 2009. At the clinic will operate the offices of Nursing, Physiotherapy, Nutrition, Pharmacy and other health care courses.
In February, the professors of St. Augustine, who finished the course in Graduate Teaching in Higher Education, offered free by the institution to its faculty, attended a ceremony for the certificates. During the course, teachers have developed research on the pedagogical practices of the various courses of the FSA.
In May, teachers and students of Physiotherapy I promoted the Day of Physiotherapy of the FSA. The event was attended by renowned professionals in the states of Piaui, Ceara, Rio de Janeiro and Sao Paulo.
In June, the FSA's Psychology course made the First Congress of Psychoanalysis and Psychoanalytic Second Meeting of Piaui, with the participation of several authors, researchers and professionals in the psychology of the country.
In June, an ecological walk to mark Environment Week, which is part of the project "Green FSA - For a sustainable life." Principals, teachers and students of St. Augustine School, and members of the community of San Pedro neighborhood and surrounding areas, participated in an ecological act, marked by the planting of seedlings on the river Parnaíba by volunteers.
In October, the institution with a great lineup marked their 10th anniversary.
This year, the Social Service course is approved by MEC. The academic activities of the course start in the first half of 2009.

The FSA aims to educate individuals with different profiles and a high degree of excellence and knowledge. For the practical development of the student, the School has a support structure aimed at simulating the latest market news and equipped in order to stimulate entrepreneurship. With the globalization of disciplines, the linkage of issues, activities and correlating of scientific work, seeking to increase the experiential field of academic broadening the scope of their knowledge in a progressive manner.
Closely following the growing demand of higher education, the College St. Augustine remains alert and able to develop new courses, seeking to promote our culture and our education in the state of Piaui.

To promote the training of competent professionals in their fields from a qualification based humanistic enabling them as citizens conscious and ethical, to play the role of critics, manufacturers and processors of society.

Pluralism - a benchmark for College: acceptance of different points of view to address the real, the coexistence of opposites, the controversy and dialogue as an exercise of criticism, the presence of scholarly and popular; prepared and know the culture originated from tradition.
