Foundation of UBEC and deployment of FCCH

Facing the Brazilian educational scenario in the decades of 1960/70 and, according to the urban development of the country's new capital, the possibility of establishing a Catholic University in Brasilia, is now considered and discussed. The early organizers went out of the historical ideal. Directors of Religious Schools in Brasilia, led by President of the Association of Private Establishments, Father Jose Teixeira da Costa Nazareth, have taken initiatives to meet and the participants of this time were ten Catholic educational institutions, in work groups, unfolded in activities that defined the facts to the institution of the keeper of the future Catholic University of Brasilia.

But the main goal was to create this entity, in Brasilia, a Catholic University. To date, the combined entities representing ten congregations, all over 100 years of international experience in education.

It was part of this first step, preparation of procedural documents required by the Federal Board of Education? CFE, for authorizing the operation of the first educational unit of the third degree, maintained by UBEC, which was the Catholic Faculty of Humanities? FCCH. The beginning of the academic work of the Faculty happened to the Pedagogy courses, Economics and Business Administration and its first Director General was Father José Teixeira da Costa Nazareth, Salesian of Don Bosco, also mentor the creation of the UBEC. The decision to authorize the CFE, the date of March 12, 1974, by Decree n º 73,813, signed by President Emilio Medici Garrastazu. Very importantly, this mandate was the visibility? New Future? The Directorate General was under the management of Sister Querubina Silva, of the Congregation of Missionaries of the Immaculate Conception of the Mother of God and one of its main endeavors was the definition of construction projects of the first buildings in the land already acquired, for to launch the works of the Catholic Campus in Wansbeck.

On March 12, 1985, the Catholic Campus Brasilia was inaugurated with the first building, now called Building St. John Baptist de La Salle. The development of FICB was unquestioned, confirming the scope of works whose objectives, guidelines for action and goals to be aimed at preparing the project for the College in recognition of the Catholic University of Brasilia. In January 1985, a new management began in FICB and mandate of Director General went to Alberto Fossá brother Eugenius, the Congregation of the Brothers De La Salle that it was at that time responsible for a school, based at its campus and place it occupied prominent among the institutions of higher education in the Federal District. In 1994/95, one of the most significant moments in the history of UCB, has been realized. After hard work and great commitment from all institutions, especially the group that formed the Working Group Internal - GIT, appointed by Fr Decius, to implement the rules set by the Ministry and necessary to the process of recognition, the Minister of State for Education and Sports, Dr. Murilo de Avelar Hingel, signed the Decree of Recognition of FICB as the Catholic University of Brasilia? UCB. This happened on December 28, 1994, being held by the Union of Education and Culture Brasiliense? UBEC, based in Wansbeck City, DF. The semester was over and the whole academic community was in recess and vacations. Father Decius, he received the news at his residence, waited for the school year of 1995 if he started for the University in recognition of the fact became known to all staff, teachers and students, the real responsibility for the success of this venture. The first University Management UCB ended March 23, 1999, and considering the decision of the UBEC, Chancellor, Sr. Nelso Bordignon appointed the new Rector and presided over the ceremony of handing over duties. On 11/03/2003, Prof. Guy fired up the entire teaching community, administration and students of the UCB. On March 23, 2003, work began on the third administration of UCB University, occupying the Dean Prof Dr ª. Deborah Pinto Niquini in search of a participatory approach and involvement of all teachers and administrators with UCB and, consequently, with the new mandate. The various segments of the institution were heard, through successive meetings held and directed by the Rector that from this initiative, guiding the implementation of projects in order to guide all the work that management: Organizational Realignment Project, the Project Academic Management and Project Identity. The courses taken to appease the needs of Rs 92 courses that were being offered by graduating from the Graduate Program, in Sequential and Distance Learning, in addition to research projects in progress, aimed also to prepare them and train 826 teachers, about , 19,000 pupils across the UCB. To be part of this Rectory, Sr. named Deborah MSc Profs. Josephina Desounet Baiocchi as Pro-Rector of Graduação; Prof. MSc. According to the Report of Activities, the year of 2004 was the first year of revelation Gestão Sister Deborah Pinto Niquini and during this period, the University presented the main characteristics of the new framework within which universities had RS: profound changes in teaching and in Brazilian society generally. As the only private university in the Federal District in 2006, UCB showed indicators that highlight their importance in the educational landscape for higher education in London: more than 16,000 students were welcomed and informed, scientifically, for 78% of PhDs and masters in 27 Undergraduate Courses Classroom, 08 graduate distance courses, 03 courses Sequential, including 01 Special Program of Pedagogical Education of Teachers, 26 Postgraduate Graduação Lato Sensu and distance, 13 Postgraduate graduate studies (masters and doctorates ), not to mention the 27 Extension Projects with direct service to approximately 105,000 people in the community outside Brasilia. All this happened on the campuses of UCB with 615.306m ˛ in total in Aguas Claras / Wansbeck and the Pilot Plan / North Wing. The University Hospital, which opened on 30/04/2004, a service that has reached 200,000 people, contributing to the development of important research in human health.

Faced with a constant institutional reviews of MEC, UCB achieved the very good concept for 65% of all the 20 courses evaluated by the Ministry of Education from 2003 to 2006. This assessment was based on faculty and their qualifications, pedagogical and didactic-scale facility. The percentage remaining 35% were assessed with the concept Courses GOOD.

The complexity and diversity of experiences and achievements experienced by these women may be represented here by Almerinda Sister, Sister by Deborah S. Querubina and that, over these 33 years, occupied the post of Directors General and Rector of this University who projects to the world. Sister Deborah's mandate expired on 31/12/2006, passing the job to Father Jose Romualdo 31/01/2007 Degasperi in an installation ceremony of University Management 4 ª UCB.
