The UNIVAG - University Center of Greater Lowland is a new institution. Its official accreditation as a university center was in 2000, and the same was reaffirmed in 2004 with the re-accreditation by the Ministry of Education, through Ordinance No. 3271. An institution is not done from night to day. The trajectory of UNIVAG began in 1989 when the first higher education began to be offered. Since then, others were being created and, by the way UNIVAG to make higher education today are offered 22 undergraduate academic (bachelor and degree courses) and 12 undergraduate courses of technology, all recognized by the MEC. In post-graduation courses, the courses already have more than two dozen in the areas of operation of the institution, in pursuit of continuing education for its graduates, faculty and staff.

Attentive to the demands of progress with which it faces in its area of influence, the UNIVAG fulfills its social role, electing as pillars of their task, citizenship education and development, which directs its pedagogical institutions.
