Our History
Fusve and Chair of the Regents of the USS
The Society University John F. Kennedy (SUNEDY) was created in order to raise funds to form the initial capital of South Fluminense University Foundation (FUSF). Subsequently, the Educational Foundation named Severino Sombra, charities, nonprofit, declared of public utility, keeper of Severino Sombra University and other supplementary organs. On 29/01/67, at a meeting held in the auditorium of the City of Brookfield, was established the University Foundation South Fluminense - FUSF and Prof. Severino Sombra de Albuquerque was elected unanimously, the President "ad vitam". In May of that year, was achieved with the Government of the State of Rio de Janeiro, the assignment of use of the Baron Palace Massambará, for the implementation of the Faculty of Medicine, authorized to work on 13/12/68, giving rise to embryo Severino Sombra University.

Aware that social transformations are fruits of Education, a real instrument of change, which enables man to be held in its fullness, the University Severino Sombra (USS) see in Teaching the most effective means of directing man towards the scientific achievements and technology. The USS does, the binomial Teaching Learning X, the essence of the Educational Project and the quality standards, bases its philosophy.
Since the Education, Research and Extension as supporters of their educational process in the broadest sense, the USS adopts a policy where these factors are present permanently in their activities. Their efforts are concentrated towards the efficient use of Human Resources, Financial and Materials, in order to provide greater efficiency in the activities, updating of knowledge and development of an institutional process harmonic, which meets the full realization of man.
The USS offers numerous courses Undergraduate, Specialization, Improvement, Extension and Postgraduate Sensu Lato Sensu stricto and Social History, which join in a systematic and dynamic.
Mission
Promote the formation of the human being and their capacity to exercise a profession through education, research and extension, encouraging continuous learning for national development, the State of Rio de Janeiro and in particular the Central Region South Rio. |
