A success story
Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (UNIVERSO) began his story with a small school in São Gonçalo (RJ), which soon became the School of Application Dom Helder Camara, located in the neighborhood of Trinidad, where he currently works on campus in Sao Goncalo.

A success story
Universidade Salgado de Oliveira (UNIVERSO) arrives at the twenty-first century not only preparing their students to earn their place in society, but to become competent professionals and social responsibility. The hike in search of an institution increasingly robust and skilled workforce, with emphasis on research and extension became a reality through new projects and investments in the infrastructure of the institution, including modern laboratories, libraries and technology, besides a highly qualified faculty, to meet the needs of the competitive job market.
With a track record of determination and competence, the UNIVERSE secured his place in the Education of the State of Rio de Janeiro. Originally from a small school with only 33 students in the district of Trinity, in São Gonçalo, the institution became the Colegio Dom Helder Camara. After many changes, created in 1976, the first college courses, with Faculty of Education, Science and Arts of Sao Goncalo.
In 1985 amounted to ten courses, becoming the Integrated College of Saint Mary. With the approval of the consultation letter in 1990, began the process of establishing the university, which was achieved after three years by the Ministerial Decree No. 1283 of September 8, 1993, published in the Official Gazette the next day. There appeared to Salgado de Oliveira University (UNIVERSO).
At the time the institution had two campuses (São Gonçalo and Niterói) in Rio de Janeiro and offered courses in graduate school in various units of the Federation.
Based on its expansion plan and its statute, the University opened, from 1996, the campuses of Goytacazes in Rio de Janeiro and Goiânia, state of Goias in 2000 the campus was created in Recife in Pernambuco. In July 2003, started its activities on the campus of Juiz de Fora, Minas Gerais.
In 2004, the institution came to the capital of Minas Gerais, with the opening of the campus in Belo Horizonte. In 2005 launched the second campus in Northeast Region, located in the city of Salvador. In July of that year, made its first entrance exam in Salvador.

Social Responsibility
With over three decades of existence, the Association de Oliveira Salgado for Education and Culture (ASOEC) is a supporter of educational institutions that believe in the democratization of education and quality study leads to thousands of students. One of his is maintained Salgado de Oliveira University (UNIVERSO), recognized as a "Citizen University." It develops a series of outreach activities with a focus on the improvement of community life.
