The Study Center Unified Bandeirante - CEUBAN began in June 20, 1968, under the former name of the Civil Society of Physical Education of Santos.

The first school was established in Physical Education, which began operating in April 1969, at the premises of Brazil Futebol Clube, Santos.

From a modest beginning with just two classes of first year, he spent the next year for new building, installed a large enclosed area, home gymnasium, sport courts, running track, swimming pool, toilets and classrooms, meeting the demands technical and pedagogical fundamental questions within the law.

It was then, in 1972, authorized the operation of the School of Education and Human Sciences "Laertes Professor Oak," with the full degree courses in pedagogy and social studies.

The Faculty of Business and Administrative Sciences of Santos, with courses in Business Administration and Management with specialization in Foreign Trade, appeared in 1974, considering the local needs of the labor market.

Then in 1976, began the operation of the Faculty of Dentistry, which besides the training of professionals in particular, created the dental clinic providing free care to the large share of the poor community of Santos and surrounding towns.

The slow growth and quality of the institution, increasing the faculty and students, fully justified the larger goal, ie, transformation into University, what would happen in 1985, called the Metropolitan University of Santos - UNIMES.

Their service area involves not only the city of Santos and the entire Santos, comprising 622 km of the coast of São Paulo, but also the region of ABCD. Four campuses are today UNIMES: Bandeirante Campus I, II Bandeirantes Campus Campus Campus Bandeirante Bandeirante III and IV, all located in the city of Santos.

In 1986, the School of Dance was born. In that same year, was authorized by the University Council and Board of Research and Extension, the creation of the Faculty of Economics, the Economics course.

Next, we created the Law School, as the great demand throughout the Santos.

Four years later, the Faculty of Education and Human Sciences, were allowed the courses of history and geography.

Complementing the integration between levels of high school and college, was established in 1991, the College Master, "a veritable laboratory teaching, which still serves as an internship site for undergraduate curriculum taught by UNIMES.
Following with the merger of the Faculties of Business and Administrative Sciences of Santos with the Faculty of Economics, came the Accounting Course.

In the 1990's would be deployed even the Faculties of Engineering and Technological Sciences - FECT, with courses in Food Engineering, Production Engineering (Chemistry), Computer Engineering and Computer Science, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and University Hospital of Medicine Veterinary Medicine, and Faculty of Health Sciences, the School of Medicine.

In 1996, created the course in Bachelor Marketing, the first in the region, and in 2003, the Nursing course, linked to the Faculty of Health Sciences

Over four decades, postgraduate training has evolved following the strictest standards of educational quality, initially in health with various specialization programs in dentistry and courses for Faculty of Physical Education, Nursing and Medicine.

In the area of applied social sciences, important post-graduate courses in International Trade, Transport Logistics, Finance, Public Administration and Government Administration and Human Resources have been developed over two decades.

Also in the area of applied social sciences, the Faculty of Law had the best recommendation to note the CAPES for the master's program and, in 2006, recommendation to the Ph.D. program.

Earlier in the year 2003, the UNIMES he created the Center for Distance Education, presenting his project to the MEC for distance education, gaining accreditation in 2006 to offer courses in Management (Entrepreneurship Management) and Education.

The first selection process for these two runs came in August of that year, while more than 80 educational centers have agreements in Brazil, with formal requests for international agreements to implement the medium term, programs in other countries.

For the 2007 school year were implemented for the new courses and face modality for distance education, especially focused on teacher education: History, Geography, Literature, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Sociology and the Arts.

Also in 2007 were implemented courses Postgraduate International Business and Graduate Diploma in Marketing, the first having, among its renowned faculty, the former governor of São Paulo, Geraldo Alckmin.

For 40 years investing in education, UNIMES renews its commitment to provide the best training for their students, committed to training professionals who make challenges to the strictest principles of ethics, social and environmental responsibility.

And speaking of professional success, could not fail to highlight the achievement of a former student of Physical Education, the name Edson Arantes do Nascimento, nicknamed Pelé, recognized as "Athlete of the Century."

Seeking a promising future to its students, their dedication and efforts are continually directed to research in the educational system of other countries, adapting new trends in our reality.

Although entrepreneurial activity with the UNIMES has invested in technological improvement and its entire physical structure, highlighting its most important asset, the intellectual, consisting of teachers and doctors recognized and respected nationally and internationally.

All this investment, virtual classroom and now has one goal for us: helping in the formation and improvement of future professionals that will enhance our country
