The Mining Foundation of Education and Culture (WSCF), legal entity of private law, nonprofit, was founded in 1965. With the deployment, initially, the Faculty of Business Administration (FACE) and the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture (FEA), the institution has expanded its areas of activity and created later, the Faculty of Humanities (FCH), today the Faculty of Science Humanities, Social and Health College Of these three isolated surge in 2000, the University Center WSCF. With the development of educational projects, faculty and infrastructure, the institution conquest in 2004, the accreditation as a university.
After completing 45 years in 2010, WSCF member of the group of the best names in higher education in Minas Gerais State, occupying second place as private university in the state, according to General Index of Courses (IGC) of MEC. Its educational mission is intended to meet basic needs for adequate and additional training of students. It has trained teachers and infrastructure for the development of its activities: large classrooms and equipped, multimedia classrooms, modern labs, space for academic events, living space and library with computer support and multimedia features. It also gives due prominence to the development of research and extension projects and internships and technical visits. Investment in staff training and setting up courses are also duly provided for in the Institutional Development Plan (IDP) at the University WSCF. The apex bodies, formed by teachers, students and technical administrative personnel, account for participatory action at the institution.
WSCF The University offers undergraduate, superior technology, post-graduation courses (specialization), post-graduate studies (masters and doctoral) in length. Besides the courses, the Virtual WSCF offers options in the form of Distance Education (DE). The students are provided also the opportunity for exchange trips, based on agreements signed with other institutions, through the sector of International Relations.
With about 15,000 students, the University WSCF is aware of its social responsibility and, without losing sight of the humanistic education and citizen, maintains its commitment to quality higher education, as justification for its functioning and existence.
Mission
WSCF University, in compliance with their teaching, research and extension and based on the principles and purposes of national education will:
make citizens aware of their social responsibility, carrying the values of justice and ethics, in different areas of knowledge, qualified them for participation in various professional sectors and the participation in the development of Brazilian society.
Objectives
Encourage the creation and development of cultural and scientific spirit of reflective thinking;
train professionals in their fields, ready for insertion in the labor market and to participate in the development of Brazilian society, and assist in training;
encourage research work and scientific research aimed at developing science and technology and the creation and dissemination of culture and thus develop an understanding of man and the environment they live in;
promote the spread of cultural, scientific and technical make up the patrimony of humanity and to communicate knowledge through teaching, publications and other forms of communication;
arouse the desire for constant improvement and professional cultural and enable its corresponding implementation, integrating the knowledge that are acquired in an intellectual framework and systematizing the knowledge of several generations;
encourage knowledge of world problems, along with national and regional;
provide services to this population and establish a reciprocal relationship;
promote the extension, open to community participation, aimed at the dissemination of achievements and benefits of cultural creation and scientific and technological research in the institution generated. |
