These committees, in performing their duties, be responsible for "conducting the processes of internal evaluation of the institution, systemization and provision of information required by INEP. Hence the crucial role of CPAs in the preparation and development of a proposal for self-assessment, in line with the academic community and the higher councils of the institution.
The CPA is the representative body of academic and non-administration of the institution. To ensure its legitimacy in the academic community, it is recommended that in the process of choosing its members, agents are consulted in this process. This is necessary because without community involvement, the assessment will not meet its full circle of participation.
The CPA should have in their composition, with the participation of all segments of the academic community and also of civil society, left to the discretion of the collegiate bodies of the institution above definitions as to its mode of organization, number of members and dynamic operation.
Once formed the CPA, its functioning should include specific strategies that take into account the characteristics of the institution, its size and existence of previous forms of assessment, including self-evaluation, external evaluation, evaluation of teachers by students, evaluation of postgraduate students and others.
