The high standard of training of professional staff and the availability of evening courses majority UFSJ make a public outstandingly high quality and inclusive, with about 70% of its undergraduate students graduating from public schools and middle schools.

The National Assessment of Higher Education (SINAES), established by Law No. 10861 of April 14, 2004 and its amendments established, in its Article 11 and 12, the training in each institution of higher education, the committee for Assessment - CPA, as reproduced below:

Article 11. Each higher education institution, public or private, shall constitute committee for assessment - CPA, within 60 (sixty) days from the date of publication of this law with the responsibilities of conducting the processes of internal evaluation of the institution, systematization and to provide the information requested by INEP, subject to the following guidelines:

I - Incorporation by Act leader of the higher education institution, or by provision in its statute or charter, ensured the participation of all segments of the academic community and civil society organizations, and sealed the composition that favors the majority of one of the segments;
II - an autonomous in relation to councils and other collegial bodies existing in the institution of higher education.

Article 12. The responsibility for providing false information or by filling in forms and evaluation reports involving the omission or misstatement of data to be provided to SINAES answer criminally, and administratively those pipelines.

Additionally, MEC Ordinance No. 2051 of 09 July 2004, which regulated the assessment procedures of the National Assessment of Higher Education (SINAES), established in Law 10,861 of 14 April 200, established in Article 7 and Article 8:

7th Art Commissions Own Assessment (CPAs), provided for in Article 11 of Law 10,861, on April 14, 2004, and established within each institution of higher education level, will be allocated to coordination of internal processes of evaluating the institution, to systematize and provide the information requested by the INEP.

§ The first CPAs will act with autonomy for councils and other collegial bodies existing in the institution of higher education;

§ The second form of composition, term of office of its members, the dynamics of operation and specification of responsibilities of the CPA should be subject to proper regulation, to be approved by the collegiate body most of every institution of higher education, noting the following guidelines:

I - required participation of all segments of the academic community (faculty, students, technical and administrative) and representatives of civil society, being prohibited the existence of an absolute majority by any of the segments represented;

II - full disclosure of its membership and all its activities.

Article 8 The assessment activities should be undertaken include the analysis of comprehensive and integrated set of dimensions, structures, relationships, social engagement, activities, goals and social responsibilities of higher education institution.

In this sense, each of the Commissions Own Assessment - CPAs Institutions of Higher Education is part of SINAES, establishing a link between the specific design of institutional self-evaluation and the whole system of higher education in India.

Composition and Performance
These committees, in performing their duties, be responsible for "conducting the processes of internal evaluation of the institution, systemization and provision of information required by INEP. Hence the crucial role of CPAs in the preparation and development of a proposal for self-assessment, in line with the academic community and the higher councils of the institution.

The CPA is the representative body of academic and non-administration of the institution. To ensure its legitimacy in the academic community, it is recommended that in the process of choosing its members, agents are consulted in this process. This is necessary because without community involvement, the assessment will not meet its full circle of participation.

The CPA should have in their composition, with the participation of all segments of the academic community and also of civil society, left to the discretion of the collegiate bodies of the institution above definitions as to its mode of organization, number of members and dynamic operation.

Once formed the CPA, its functioning should include specific strategies that take into account the characteristics of the institution, its size and existence of previous forms of assessment, including self-evaluation, external evaluation, evaluation of teachers by students, evaluation of postgraduate students and others.

The evidence comes UFSJ efforts to create an infrastructure of permanent activities of the CPA. For this purpose, appointed to Dean of Planning and Development the responsibility to the CPA-UFSJ all necessary administrative support for its full operation. Proposes the appointment of a permanent technical and administrative server to perform the activities of the secretariat, logistics, document production, in addition to serving its members by giving the conditions for the performance of their duties.
