Maintained by the Cultural and Educational Association of Franca - ACEF - the Unifran was founded on January 26, 1970, created by two entrepreneurs in education, Abib Cury and Salim Eduardo Pinto Ludovice Clovis. Already in 1975, with the success of the venture, has expanded its courses, incorporating the Pestalozzi School and the Faculty of Philosophy of the Athenaeum CALF.
Since its founding, until now, characterized by being an institution of higher education towards the future, always seeking the modernization of physical infrastructure, bibliographic and pedagogical resources. Is moving towards providing quality services for students, teachers, professionals and community members.
In 1975, Unifran had only 400 students, are currently more than 16,000 spread between undergraduate (baccalaureate and graduate), technology, distance, specialization, master's and doctoral programs, which cover all areas of human knowledge.
The historic event featured the Unifran falls on August 25, 1994, when the number of courses offered and the internal administrative organization are transformed into the University of Franca, by Ordinance No. 1275, considering the opinion of the CFE No. 615 / 94.
Thereafter, the growth of Unifran took place under such a perspective that France and the region have benefited from his influence. The city, welcoming thousands of students from various locations around the country began to change their profiles metropolis: an exclusive shoe center, added to this status of the provider of various services, in addition to campus, saw the increased practice of higher education , research, and university extension services to the community, thanks to the academic aspects of training of qualified staff, which had a positive influence in their indexes economic, political and social.
The Unifran in its 40 year history, has trained over 35,000 professionals. It houses more than 500 teachers, whose title exceeds 60% of masters and doctors.
In an institutional assessment conducted with graduates of Unifran, it was found that 70% of trained professionals here are acting in their respective areas of expertise and between them, over 80% of the market see their expectations met. (Survey conducted by the Dean of Education and Extension).
The labs are installed at the institution in reference excellence. The campus is serviced by wireless network, with more than 1,600 Internet network. The agreements with institutions of France held the region and meet the demand of our trainees, that exercise training modules and put into practice the theory seen in the classroom. To check out the levels of excellence to this practice, the Unifran renews every year, and increases its pedagogical and institutional development plan.
The ACEF, which sponsors the University of Franca has two objectives: a) maintain and develop education, teaching, research and extension in high-quality standards under the relevant legislation and the guidance of the MEC, b) to train competent professionals in the different areas of knowledge, based on ethics and environmental awareness and citizenship.
