The Castelo Branco University's Mission is to train professionals for different areas, with the perspective principles of continuing education, construction and socialization of knowledge committed, as a whole, the problems of society, culture, environment, science and technology, guiding the training of professionals with humanist principles, ethics and citizenship.
Considers, in line with the National Undergraduate, graduate training that the teaching should not restrict itself to the prospect of a narrowly specialized professional, but we must foster the skills of long-term, the field of analytical methods, multiple codes and languages, a kind of intellectual skill sufficiently broad and abstract to be, in turn, solid foundation for continuous and efficient acquisition of specific knowledge.
In addition to the tasks defined in a separate chapter of the Constitution promulgated on October 5, 1988, universities should seek to define their missions considering the peculiarities of individuals in the region is located where the geo-economic progress and its insertion in the local and regional development. In this context, the University of Castelo Branco believes that besides being a pluralistic and multi-disciplinary institution, the company presents itself as one of its instruments of change, capable of contributing to the elimination of existing inequalities.

Our Vision
Universidade Castelo Branco Vision is: To be recognized as full reference in the promotion of individual potential and prepare them for work and citizenship through education and scientific and technological production, integrated under the mediation of the extension, the culture and the demands regional development and in particular the western zone of Rio de Janeiro.
History
The trajectory of the Universidade Castelo Branco to be confused with the recent history of the West. It begins in 1963 when it created a small primary school in Realengo.
Since 1971, Castelo Branco University has trained highly skilled professionals and contributing to the development of the whole society, especially in the Western Zone of Rio de Janeiro.
The Educational Center Realengo - CER entity Maintainer Universidade Castelo Branco - UCB, had its origin in the Centre of European Studies Gissen Paulo, founded on 03/07/1971. As decided by the Extraordinary General Meeting held on 23.2.1973, the Authority is now called Education Center Realengo, settling at 1631 Santa Cruz Avenue, Realengo, in Rio de Janeiro.
The first university courses were allowed to work with the creation of the Faculty of Education, Sciences and Letters Marechal Castelo Branco, on 10/09/1973, and the Faculty of Physical Education at Guanabara, on 7/11/1973.
In 1976, the two colleges have now become the International College of Castelo Branco - FICAB, with the approval of the Unified Rules CFE Opinion No. 2903/71 of 07/01/1975, followed by recognition on 15/12 / 1976 of the courses that were originally installed. With the implementation of FICAB begins the development of this facility Realengo.
Until the late 1980s, other courses to join the traditional Arts and Physical Education, and Mathematics Education, Physiotherapy, Social Work, Management and Information Technology.
But the family Gissen wanted to go further: to provide universal education as a commitment in its wide range of possibilities and to learn about the new demands and specializations. So in 1990, began the formal process of transforming FICAB, with the acceptance of letter of inquiry by the CFE for the creation of the Universidade Castelo Branco, 18 / 2.
The official installation of UCB occurred on 4/1/1995, after the publication of Ministerial Decree No. 1834 in the Official Gazette, on 29/12/1994. New blocks are lifted and the sports center consolidates the pioneering and teaching quality.
In subsequent years, new campuses, units and poles in different regions of Rio de Janeiro and Brazil have continued to project the UCB to take quality education to different parts of the country.
Always on the community, UCB maintains social projects on the one hand, promote citizenship and, secondly, enable trainees of various courses involved. Working together guided by the principles of competence and quality.
That's four decades of an old passion for excellence. Culture also has room captive in artistic events of the student body.
