The University Center of Araraquara - Uniara defines as its institutional mission to contribute to the sustained development of the nation and the well-being and quality of life throughout society. For this, dedicated to the preparation and training of students, combining high professional competence and ethical values and humanitarian concerns, they may become productive responsible citizens and professionals, entrepreneurs and promoters of change by the development and dissemination of knowledge in a dynamic environment education and intellectual creation.
With the creation of Saint Benedict Education Association - ASBEs in 1968, opened a step that transformed the higher education and the Araraquara region. That year, the MEC endorsed the creation of the Faculty of Economic and Administrative Sciences of Araraquara, with courses in Administration and Economics.
Shortly afterwards, in 1970, authorized the Law School of Araraquara and, in 1971, Araraquara School of Education (which in 1974 would become the School of Education and Social Studies of Araraquara). Given this expansion, was founded in 1972 the Federation of Schools of Isolated Araraquara - FEFI, now bring together the then existing colleges.
In 1997 the institution achieved its accreditation as a University Center, gaining autonomy for new prospects. This gave rise to Uniara.
Today, Uniara is one of the largest and most prestigious institutions of higher education in the country with four units, which are distributed by 600 employees and over 7000 graduate students in the following courses: Administration, Architecture and Urban Planning, Biology, Biomedicine, Digital Design, Law, Economics, Physical Education, Nursing, Bioenergetics Engineering, Civil Engineering, Computer Engineering, Production Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aesthetics and Cosmetology, Pharmacy, Physiotherapy, Fonoaudilogia, Journalism, Fashion - Style & Business, Nutrition, Dentistry, Education, Psychology, Advertising, Information Systems, Systems For Internet, Occupational Therapy, Web Design, and Medicine
