To promote human development through education and health, according to the values Camillians.
Being a reference organization in education and health, with activities that promote improved quality of life in society.

Educating for health promotion is a means of developing the society and to minimize the inequality between people.

According to Academic Camillian Philosophy, the concept of health requires an approach linked to the notion of "welfare" of the whole human being.

The University Center cooperates positively to the health, welfare while the social environment in which it is inserted, helping to train people so they devise, and, accordingly, work.

Charisma of Camillians
The family Camillian serves the human person as its most precious asset: life and health. Your playing field is the world's health, preventing illness, curing the sick in the whole of his being and reinserting them into society. In collaboration with other professionals, Camillians - in obedience to Christ's mandate: "Preach the gospel and heal the sick" - fulfill their mission attentive to the needs of health, ready to take any service according to their abilities and skills, taking for the promotion of man and the building of the kingdom of God. To be always up to the mission, its statutes provide that, in addition to the normal courses of Philosophy, Theology and Scripture, "the religious cultivate health training that the times require, along with the sciences that provide a more complete understanding of the human person .

Attend courses according to the pastoral needs of each location and capabilities of each, courses and other related sciences in the health field, such as sociology, psychology, group dynamics, medicine, psychiatry. "" Our religious endeavor, for all ways to spread the theology and pastoral health care, teaching professional ethics, help and encourage hospital chaplains' associations, to collaborate in the press for the sick or bound in any way the problems of world health. It is worth of modern means of communication suitable for the apostolate "(General Provisions of Order No. 11 and 12). Lately Camillians have given greater emphasis to the study and teaching of Bioethics, specializing its members, opening training centers in the field health, publishing articles and books. Ten years ago founded in Rome, the Camillianum, international institute of theology and papal ministry of health, also open to laymen, which confers the master's and doctoral degrees, and prepare specialists for different countries and dioceses.

The Camillianum publishes a magazine with the same name (Camillianum), which brings scientific articles relating to the world of health, including bioethics, in Italian or in the author's original language. Late last year, published Camillianum emboldened Dizionario DI SALUTE DELLA Theology and Ministry, only on gender, which was well received in Italy and is being translated into other languages, including Portuguese. This dictionary gives ample space to issues of bioethics, dedicating him privately two long entries that are like a compendium of this discipline: Bioethics - history and problems today and Bioethics: fundamentals. In collaboration with "Istituto di Bioethics" from the "Università Cattolica S. Cuore di Roma," the Camillianum just set up a crash course in "Master in Sanitary Pastorale" for the winners in the world of health disciplines.

Each represents a special characteristic charisma of Christian spirituality. The spirituality of Camillians Wells Heart of the Gospel: they want to be instruments of Christ's love for the sick, like good Samaritans (cf. Lk 10:29-37) while serving in the suffering Christ (cf. Mt 25 36.40): "All our religious life should be permeated by the friendship of God so that we may be ministers of Christ's love for the sick. Thus, it becomes clear that faith in us, in Camillus, was active in charity and through which we see in patients Christ himself. In the presence of Christ in patients and in those who attend on their behalf, we find the source of our spirituality "
(Art. 13 of the Constitution of the Order).
