Who has a dream not tired!

UNIVER celebrates 40 years with the sponsor party, emotion, technology park and the opening of classrooms

"Few charities across the time and grew as the Foundation for Teaching Euripides Soares da Rocha, offering a precious asset that is quality education."
The phrase is the Rector of the Universe and president of the sponsor, Luiz Carlos de Macedo Soares, at the opening ceremony on Aug. 17 and that marked the 40th anniversary of the Foundation. The institution was established on August 8, 1967.
The hall was taken over by hundreds of faculty, staff, students and guests of the institution. Macedo Soares was keen to thank everyone for coming and sent a special greeting to the staff of the house: "It is thanks to the work of all of you, from the simplest to the most senior, came to this institution where you are."
At the table, besides the Rector, took a seat Isauro Dr. Pigozzi (Curator of Foundations and Promoter of Justice), Mario Bulgarelli (mayor de Marília), Mario Coraíni (UNIVER teacher and city councilman, representing the Town Hall), Amauri Rosa ( vice president of the College Menezes and maintainer of Euripides Foundation), William Nemer Eleazar (president of Spiritist Hospital and Marilia maintainer Foundation Euripides).
Leading the ceremony, the marketing manager and chief of staff Dean, Ivan Evangelista Jr., highlighted the presence of important guests in the hall: educators, students, businessmen, professionals, supporters of the Foundation, leaders of charities, the mayor and secretaries municipal, and many others. The Journal of the Foundation gathered testimony from several of them, which can be checked on the following pages.
The highlight of the festival was undoubtedly a tribute to two keepers - Belisario Antonio Joaquim Norberto de Souza and de Camargo, Quincas - that gave name to the technology park and the new suite of rooms, opened on the same day (see the matter below). Among many other works, both were great figures in the creation of the Foundation.
Called to compose the table, and Belisario Quincas were thrilled when they receive plaques in honor of the hands of the maintainers and William Eleazar Antonio Beiro Nemer.
"I consider the works of Marília spiritualists like home," said Belisarius. "I am very happy to be spirit and be able to contribute to this wonderful city and its people, who welcomed me so warmly."
Delivering historical documents at the time of the creation of the institution to the Dean Macedo Soares, Quincas thanked for the honor. "Many have had value in this magnificent work that the Foundation is Euripides and I revert this honor you all."
After the ceremony at the hall, the gifts were received for a lunch in the living space of the Universe.
There were many emotional moments during the party on June 17, but one of them touched bottom in attendance. Maria Giometti, a big picture of philanthropy in Marilia, in its 94 years and available to all evidence, he recalled that one has to dream ... ever. "Dreams are born and build every day, every hour, every minute, and the Foundation was made thus: for people who had dreams and went to fight to realize them."

Who are the honorees

Anthony Belisario de Souza was born in Mococa in 1926 and moved to Marília in the 30s, with their parents. The conversion to spiritualism came in 40 years. A career in banking started in the House Banking Ruiz and Sons, which was to become the future Bradesco, and continued in the Bank of Brazil, until his retirement in 1980.
Beside his wife Gretel Possolo, Belisarius was one of the exponents of the spiritual doctrine of consolidation in Marilia, along with a generation that had Euripides Soares da Rocha, Paul Lara, Sebastian Goncalves, Guiomar Rock etc.. These distinguished volunteers, among others, have created several institutions, such as Educandário Dr. Menezes and Home Girls Amélie Boudet.
Belisario and Gretel also engaged in the administration of Spiritist Hospital and Marilia Mansion Ishmael. Subsequently, joined the pioneers who created the Foundation for Teaching Euripides Soares da Rocha, in 1967. Belisario was formed in the first class of law's home in 1974.
Joaquim Norberto de Camargo, Quincas, was born in nearby Pompeii in 1939. Also banking career, he passed through Banespa and the Bank of Brazil. He is married to Celia Xavier de Camargo.
Quincas Educandário joined the boards of Dr. Bezerra de Menezes, Philanthropic Association of Marilia, Marilia Spiritist Hospital and Education Foundation Euripides Soares da Rocha, which participated in the entire process of installing and setting up its first faculties.
Rolândia, along with his wife and fellow Spiritist Society of Mary of Nazareth, founded the Children's Home daycare John Pitta Lion and the House of soup in the name of Jesus, who currently manages entities.

Established 41 years

Marilia among the 100 best in Brazil. The Foundation / Univem is part of this achievement

The city rises in the ranking of the best in the country to make a career. Survey of the Getulio Vargas Foundation, in partnership with the revised S / A, shows that education is the key point in this result. Another survey, conducted by Firjan, indicates the city in 13th place nationwide in quality of life.
Good news comes in the month in which the Foundation for Teaching Euripides Soares da Rocha, maintainer of the Universe, a character of weight in these achievements, celebrates 41 years

In journalistic jargon, when a subject is very interesting and / or important, says he can "to hook" for various approaches. Such is the case of matter that shows the rise of Marília in survey prepared by the Getulio Vargas Foundation, in partnership with the magazine Você S / A. From 61th place among the top 100 to make career in 2007, the city jumped to 59th position this year, ahead of cities such as Maceio (61st place), Teresina (66th), Palmas (89th) and Porto Velho (90th) . Another study, prepared by the Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro, which measures the quality of life in municipalities, Marília points in 13th place in the country.
One aspect draws attention to face: the weight of education in these achievements. In both surveys, Marília did very well in this aspect, considering the number of undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees, as well as total number of enrolled students and graduates.
Who knows the city knows that education is his forte. In higher education, the four institutions (Univ, UNESP, and FAMEMA UNIMAR) receive no less than 20 000 students. All that education has an impact strength of the other results of the city. "The higher the level of training and knowledge of the population in general, and specialization of a growing number of professionals, there is no doubt that the greater the opportunities for economic and social growth of a city," the rector of the Universe, Luiz Carlos de Macedo Soares.
With his undergraduate and graduate, renowned for their quality, their research projects and extension services to the community, the universal has been a key part in that gear. "Here, the tripod teaching-research-extension is taken seriously," emphasizes the rector.
This is our "hook." Most of the material in this edition displays achievements and accomplishments of our students and teachers. This is the case of the spectacular result of our law students in the competition for trainees of the Public Defender of St. Paul, which won 32 of 34 vacancies. Or, again, the story of former students who are outstanding in their companies, as Ednilson Antonio Aguiar, Senior Assistant Export in jet; Felippe Lucius de Mello Neto, a consultant in Business Process Management Technologies of Icarus, Carlos Augusto Candella, newly approved in competition for teachers ... among others, to illustrate the pages of this issue and show that quality education makes a difference in the labor market. The result of the final examination of OAB, showing that the rate of the Universe is four times higher than the average, is also revealing. "That's how we, the UNIV, we contribute to that region and Marilia to develop increasingly, for the economy to grow, so there are new jobs, ultimately, for the population to have a better life," concludes Macedo Soares
Professor Reginald Arthus, dean of Institutional Development and New Business of the Universe and coordinator of the Continuing Education Center (CEC), recalls that the major developed countries that have developed in contemporary social and economically have one thing in common: they all reduced significantly its internal social inequalities. "Not only is income inequality, but also opportunities, citizenship, consumption pattern, justice and access to politics," he says.
Arthus notes that there are several important vectors of promoting the reduction of inequality, but two are fundamental: the health and education. "Two areas of social policy in which our dear Marilia is very well served and provisioned," relates. "So it's not for nothing or even by luck that Marília is among the top 5% of the principal cities of the country that people should choose to build and advance their careers," continues the professor. Congratulating the institution for its 41 years of life, he does not hesitate to assert: "The Foundation and UNIVER are the primary agents of Marília potentiated reduction of inequalities."

Search FGV / S / A gives greater weight to education

The Getulio Vargas Foundation (FGV / RJ) lists 127 cities as a starting point. They are part of the group of 5% largest municipalities in the country, with at least 170 thousand and $ 210 million in deposits. To define and classify the top 100 to make a career, the research considered three indicators:
- Education (weight 3): Corresponds to the number of enrollments and offer undergraduate, master's and doctoral degrees.
- Economic force (weight 2): Revenue per capita of Service Tax and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) Hall.
- Health (weight 1): Number of beds and health professionals for every 1,000 residents.
According to Moses Balassiano, research coordinator and professor at FGV / RJ, the greater weight given to education is explained by their difference. The supply of courses, specializations, master's and doctoral quality is crucial to sustain growth and development of municipalities. "The cities that offer the best alternatives for building and updating provide IT professionals an opportunity to grow in the business world and deal with increasingly complex problems," says Balassiano.

The city grows ...
The good results of Marilia, expressed in the polls FGV / S / A and Firjan, they reflect a development that can be felt on city streets. Transformations and changes happen very strongly: the inauguration of the Board of Trade of São Paulo (Juscesp), record of hiring in the trade, opening of the boardwalk, new stores in the malls, four agencies car installed in a short time, expansion and modernization of supermarkets (Kawakami, and Tauste Price is Right), installation of another large supermarket (Trust), expansion of Coca-Cola factory with 700 new jobs, over a stretch of the SP 294 in duplicate, inauguration of the headquarters of of ACIM, increased exports and the number of countries that receive products or the region of Marília.
Naturally, the city has its problems. "Marília can occupy positions even better," signals the architect Miguel Sampaio de Souza e Silva, the Regional Office of Planning / Erplan (Diario de Marilia, 29/07/2008). He argues, among other measures, a greater incentive to agribusiness.
For the chief of staff and marketing manager of UNIV, Ivan Evangelista Júnior, address problems and turn them into solutions is precisely the great challenge of education. "Good staff and students in training or expertise in UNIVER are the greatest contribution we can make to the development of the city and region," he points out.

... education provides the foundation
Rather than talk about the importance of education is to show in practice how it can shape the direction of people's lives and society as a whole. Marcos Calil is a good example. Degree in Accounting at UNIV in 1982, he combines a successful career ahead of Calil.Con Advice Accounting Office, with prominent positions in the representative bodies of the category. Calil is a former president of the Association of Accountants and the Association of Marília, Marília Accountants, currently is president of the sponsor Board of Trade of São Paulo and Marília regional director Sescon / SP. After graduation, he attended a specialization in Accounting and Finance in the UNIV.
While considering the labor market "heated" Calil adds, "Despite the good indicators of Marília when it comes to education, I note that the search for qualified professionals is still an impediment to companies. "There is great demand for well-educated people with solid theoretical foundation and prepare them to face the practical" stresses.
Panciera Anderson is another name which reflects the importance of education in the labor market. Graduate in Business Management from STI / UNIV in 2006, he wasted no time, early in 2007, he joined an MBA in Accounting and Finance Section, course completed this month. He says he began interning as a business agent in the Commercial and Industrial Association of Marília (ACIM), and today is a consultant for services of the Federation of Trade Associations of the State of São Paulo (FACESP), and 58 cities under its responsibility. Panciera considers courses taken in the decisive UNIV. "I learned a lot and gained confidence to ascend the career," he says.
And this story does not stop there. In the following pages, read materials that show students and alumni of the Universe that have good combining personal training and claw to win his place in the sun in the labor market.

Radiography of the municipalities Marília points in 13th for quality of life
The Federation of Industries of Rio de Janeiro (Firjan) has just closed a map that shows how fares the quality of life in Brazilian municipalities. The study provides a comparison between the years 2000 and 2005. Index Firjan Municipal Development (IFDM) was created to overcome the absence of a parameter for measuring the socioeconomic development of municipalities and has a national scope. It is similar to the HDI-M, established by the United Nations (UN) to measure the quality of life in the country.
The IFDM considers three indicators: employment and income, education and health. The closer to 1, the better the result obtained by the municipality. In 2005, one hundred of the best ranked, 87 are from São Paulo, all located within the state. The capital, St. Paul, was in 109th position.
In 2005, Marília appears in 13th place with a better quality of life among the country's municipalities, with significant improvement compared to 2000. Follow the table and see that education, once again, was crucial to the city:

IFDM Brazil (2005) IFDM Marília (2005)
Employment and income 0.6960 0.8044
Education 0.6850 0.9531
Health 0.7576 0.9171
Overall average 0.7129 0.8915

In 2000, the overall average of Marília was 0.7717, corresponding to the 56th position among the Brazilian municipalities.
