The origin of the institution dates back to 1924 with the creation of the Normal School of Uberabinha dedicated to primary education. In 1947 started to offer also the equivalent of high school and college name to Central Brazil.

In 1966 it housed the Technical School of Industrial Chemistry.

The first Faculty, Social Work, had his operation was authorized in 1972, coming to him, three years later, the Faculty of Education, Science, Arts and Social Studies of Uberlândia.

In 1988 changed its name to Association of Education of the Triangle. In 1989 starts the operation of the Faculties of Social Communication and Physiotherapy.

The grouping of these four colleges gave the institution in 1990, the name of the Triangle Integrated College - FIT. The absorption in 1991 of Business Administration courses and Economics of FAIU, broadened their scope of action.

The year 1994 marked the start of great FIT towards its consolidation as the University Center, with the approval of five new courses: Architecture and Urban Design, Advertising, Accounting, Computer Science, Law, which increased to fourteen the number of undergraduate courses offered. That year was the installation of Unit Araguari (29 miles Uberlândia), with courses in Law and Administration, Accounting, Economics and Computer Science.

In 1995 came the creation of the Campus 3, Araxá (170 miles Uberlândia), where they run the courses of Computer Science and Management.

Consolidated units of higher education, FIT has become the Triangle University Center, accredited by the Presidential Decree of October 30, 1997, published in the Official Gazette of November 3, 1997.
In 1998 changed its name to the Society of Education Triangle S / C Ltda., Extending the vacancies for the courses of law and by creating courses in Physical Education, Tourism and Hospitality, Nursing, Pharmacy, Nutrition, Trilingual Executive Secretary.

In 1999 the courses were created and Psychology of Dentistry and began building the new University Campus, located in an area of 1,000,000 square meters, avenue Nicomedes Alves dos Santos, the only 2800 meters from the city center. The first three blocks of classrooms, with 132 units, allowed to attend various courses in 1999.

The Unitri account currently on campus Uberlandia, with 25 undergraduate courses and eight graduate of Technology. Besides them, also has a Postgraduate Sensu Lato Specialization or com various courses offered.

The Unitri is characterized by a regional vocation and has sought, through the knowledge of existing demands, positioning themselves as agents of development. Its consolidation means the purpose of achieving the fullness of university autonomy to build your academic proposal - in meeting the needs of the citizen who seeks, in addition to general knowledge, skills required by a job market increasingly sophisticated and demanding.

The mission is to provide education Unitri higher level of excellence, the relentless pursuit of critical knowledge and creative, so that, assuming a position of interaction with the community in which it operates, may arise as the irradiating center of knowledge and transformation of reality.

The University Center of the Triangle, Unitri, is a private institution of higher learning based in the city of Uberlandia and an academic unit in the city of Araguari, Triangulo Mineiro region. Had its origin in 1924 dedicated to the elementary and high school.

Seeking to adapt to socioeconomic changes occurring in the city of Uberlandia, schools have been created at senior level, in order to meet also the region's growing demand. From 1972 to 1990 the institution has experienced the college experience of isolated and integrated colleges .

The year 1994 marked a great start towards its consolidation as the University Center, accredited by the Presidential Decree dated October 30, 1997, published in the Official Gazette of November 3 that year.

The academic structure consists of Unitri by the Institutes of Social Sciences and Education, Exact and Technological, Legal and Business and Institute of Health Sciences, which are bound to the 25 undergraduate courses currently offered, plus several undergraduate technology of short duration, with a focus on professionalism. At the graduate level, specialized courses are six areas where the supply is regular.

The proposal is to Unitri philosophical-academic work to examine the many possibilities of reality through theory and practice, reflection and action, individuals and the community, crystallized in their teaching, research and extension do. Its mission is to provide teaching excellence, supported by the dual commitment to scientific and technological development of the region and solving the problems of the community in which it is inserted.
