University description (as per official university website)
The Oswaldo Aranha - FOA, a nonprofit, educational and cultural character, was established in 1967, in Volta Redonda - RJ, via the union of various professionals and segments of society. His name is a tribute to the foreign minister of the government of Getulio Vargas, a character important in building the city.
The FOA has overcome in the Sul Fluminense region demand for higher education, to disseminate scientific and technical research and training professionals, initially with the Schools of Medicine (1968), dentistry (1970), Civil Engineering (1970), Physical Education ( 1971) and Accounting (1975).
Schools run by the FOA were integrated in 1993 with the creation of the Center for Higher Education Volta Redonda - CESVRE. In 1999, with the accreditation of the ECM, CESVRE raised to the status of university center, becoming the Centro Universitario de Volta Redonda - UniFOA.
Tradition and quality education are the key differentiators of UniFOA. The quality was certified by the MEC with accreditation to the University Center and the consecutive re-accreditation with high concepts, and the tradition comes from decades of training professionals who currently work in the labor market regionally and nationally, generating and disseminating knowledge with scientific and technical research and given the community with hundreds of extension actions.
