The Unicarioca was born in 1990 under the name Carioca Faculty of Informatics. It started small, in a building, Botafogo, with only two classes of 35 students of Technology in Data Processing. Gradually, we are growing and expanding our course offerings. In 1995, developed the first Virtual University in the country, UNIVER. This year also began with courses in Management, Social Communication and Industrial Design. In 1998 came the Marketing course and the following year, Computer Science.
In 2001 created the NUPEC (Special Projects Division) and LUPA (Unicarioca Laboratory for Applied Research), projects that promote academic research papers and professional training. Today, more than 4,500 students who comprise our student body, graduation in four units: Long River, Meier, Bento Ribeiro and Jacarepagua.
With a staff of 80 teachers and eight engineers chosen from the best, Unicarioca promotes a narrow academic teachers not only making their Masters, but vocational advisers. And for the constant updating of their professional futures are organized regularly: summer courses, open classes, fairs and marathons, all focused on the interaction with the constant innovations and developments in the labor market.
