The message that the president wanted and that januarenses Manoel de Almeida referred to our president Juscelino Kubtischek was the creation of the School Agrotechnical Januaria. Em outubro de 1960, no final do governo de Juscelino Kubitschek, enquanto Januária festejava o seu centenário, um convênio celebrado entre o Governo Federal e o Estadual faria de um terreno de 104 ha, área da fazenda denominada São Geraldo, onde há 12 anos funcionava o Posto Agro-Pecuário (sic) do próprio Ministério da Agricultura, doado anteriormente para o referido Ministério pelos irmãos Benedito e Pedro (Alves Ferreira), palco da Escola Agrotécnica de Januária, oficializada em 18 de dezembro desse mesmo ano, cujo desfecho teve como principal artífice o ilustre Deputado januarense Coronel Manoel José de Almeida.
Sendo assim, num belo dia de dezembro, Januária era tão merecidamente presenteada, no seu centenário, com uma escola que nascia do empenho de um humanista de idéias avançadas, que legou sua vida e grande inteligência à causa da educação. Idealizador e criador das escolas Caios Martins, FUCAM, Manuel de Almeida contou com o apoio absoluto da sua esposa Marcia Almeida de Souza, que também dedicou parte da sua vida a esta causa, autora do livro Semeando e Colhendo, uma autêntica obra que registra com riqueza de detalhe Januária no tempo e no espaço.

Back then, in 1960, the School of Agrotechnical Januaria born timidly, in order to allow the egress of the Caio Martins School completion of their studies, ie, students would make the first series, then that school would continue in education, Agricultural School.
Under the Ministry of Agriculture, a body responsible for the first building, located just inside the entrance, the School Agrotechnical Januaria, was the first director Professor Firmino Siqueira Soares, indicated by the Superintendent of Agricultural Education and Veterinary SEAV / MA, being structured by the molds Decree No. 21667 of 20/08/46 and Decree-Law No. 9614 of 20/8/1946, to the enactment of Law No. 4024 of December 20, 1961, Law of Directives and Bases of National Education.

The school initially characterized by informality. Students are not historical or certificates received by the year 1964 when, in fact, began to administer the Fund the secondary school, with enrollment of the first class in boarding schools, serving students from the community januarense of the entire region of Valley of San Francisco and other states. That same year, by Presidential Decree, No. 53,558, of 13/02/164, School Agrotechnical Januaria began to be called Agricultural College, whose name is still present to this day, still occasionally be seen a place in society and others use the expression, Agricultural College, "one student, studying in the Agricultural College, Agricultural College in going there, will you try the competition of the Agricultural College?
Still in its beginning, the School Agrotechnical Januaria emerges as a reference for teaching, due to the commitment of the leadership and their servants, both teachers and technical administrators and the experiences gained through visits to other schools in the state as Machado, Bambuí and Muzaffarpur, and Universities as of Lavras and Viçosa. By Decree No. 60731, dated 19/05/67, the Agricultural College Januaria, until then under the Ministry of Agriculture, was transferred to the Ministry of Education and Culture. In 2007 was created the Degree of Bachelor of Agriculture, authorized by Resolution CD No. 001/2007 of 11/10/2007, and the integration of the Technical School in Computer Science and Agriculture, as required by Decree No. 23 of 5154 / 07/2004
Expansion Plan with the Federal Network of Professional and Technical Education, CEFET Januária was contemplated for the implementation and administration of three units of Decentralized Education - UNEDs towns of Almenara and Arinos Pirapora.
On March 31, 2008, was approved in full accordance with Ordinance No. 116 Mr. Secretary, Eliezer Moreira Pacheco of SETEC / MEC, the proposed constitution of the Federal Institute of Science and Technology of Northern Mines, by integrating Cefet Januária with the EAF Salinas, beginning the process of Ifetização Cefet Januária, along with the EAF of Salinas.

d) post-graduation courses of development and specialization for the training of specialists in different fields of knowledge;
e) post-graduate studies for master's and doctorate, which help to promote the establishment of solid foundations in education, science and technology, aiming at the generation process and technological innovation.
