In 1968, physicians, Dr. Israel and Dr. Roberto Zekcer Laganá, worked in the official network of teaching first and second degrees of São Paulo, Santo André.
On that occasion, entered into force the law which required that network coursing to doctors specializing in sports medicine, so they could continue performing biometric tests in students of the network.
Thus, both sought the Faculty of Medicine, University of the authorization required, since it was the only institution that offered in Sao Paulo.
So the idea of opening the Physical Education College of Saint Andrew who, supported by federal law that took effect since then, allowed the opening of private colleges.
In the Greater ABC there was no college of Physical Education and doctors cited above believed in the importance of developing a culture of physical activity for health maintenance, since that time.
In 1969 he was sent the request for authorization to operate at the Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC).
In 1970 he was authorized by the opening of the MEC course of the Faculty of Physical Education of St. Andrew, by Decree number 66,692 published in the Official Gazette on 11/06/70. His recognition was given by the decree number 72123, published in the Official Gazette on 25/04/73.
The first professionals to compose the group of professors of FEFISA were entirely from the University of Sao Paulo, some of whom had been teachers of medical supporters, attended when such specialization.
The Faculty of Physical Education of St. Andrew, in a personal effort of its leaders, now has a highly professional team, becoming one of the most recognized schools of their area in Brazil.
The goal of FEFISA has been achieved thanks to a job teaching recycled each year by their teachers, through courses, seminars and conferences in order to develop the aptitude of the student, encouraging learning, and developing ethical attitudes, reflective and critical, allowing an activities in the fields of education (elementary and middle school) and non-school (hospitals, gyms and clubs).
The FEFISA is located in Santo Andre, the ABC region of Sao Paulo metropolitan area, city of six hundred thousand inhabitants, industrialized region with the active population working mainly in the sectors of the economy secondary and tertiary.
A structure not built of solid overnight. Thus, the FEFISA has sought, in his thirty years of existence, the constant concern about the quality of education.
The FEFISA over all these years working in the training of professionals in physical education, has been closely monitoring the growing need for qualified professionals according to the most advanced teaching methods.
In order to satisfy the labor market increasingly demanding of professionals updated, and exhibit a dynamic profile of initiative and leadership, FEFISA created in 1999 the College of Saint Andrew, offering the course in Tourism.
In February 2001 became the FEFISA Integrated College under the name FEFISA - COLLEGES INCORPORATED, comprising courses in Physical Education, Tourism.
In addition to a physical structure designed especially for student development, with spaces designed to meet your needs as computer laboratories and library with one of the best collections in the areas of their courses, the FEFISA now has a qualified and experienced faculty in the most several areas of knowledge. Thus, not only have the desire to prepare the best people for the job market, but also to educate the man as a being able to think, act and feel in order to transform to better the social environment in which they live, developing ethical attitudes, reflective, critical and innovative.
In 2004, FEFISA initiating the new Degree Course under the new legislation, following the National Curriculum Guide for Teacher Training Courses.
It was made many changes in the structure of the course, in order to realize the requirements of the legislation. Understood at the new course that will empower our students with a more specific way, thus enabling a better chance of entering the academic job market.
