The FACENS
In early 1976, the Cultural Association of Technological Renovation Sorocaba - ACRTS, filed with the then Ministry of Education and Culture (MEC) a request for installation of the Faculty of Engineering Sorocaba - FACENS in the city of Sorocaba. In October 1976, was published the authorization for the deployment of its first courses. The FACENS thus held its first entrance exam in January 1977 for courses in Civil Engineering and Electrical Engineering.In 1978 began the construction of the campus of the Faculty created to fill a serious gap in Higher Education in Sorocaba. On June 3, 1980, the FACENS was recognized by the MEC. Construction of the campus was completed in 1984 with the deployment of the buildings of Civil Engineering and Electrical and laboratories for these courses and gym.In recent years, the FACENS received authorization to teach the courses of Computer Engineering (1998) and Mechanical Engineering (2001) thus meeting, the growing demand for such professionals in the region. For the same reason it started to offer in the late 90s, specialization courses and postgraduate LatoSensu.The FACENS has an outstanding faculty, academic and professional level and with an infrastructure of quality supported by well equipped laboratories and technologically upgraded. These factors are decisive for the recognition of the pedagogical work that the College develops and, especially, the quality of trained professionals here.ACRTS maintained by an entity of Federal Public Utility nonprofit philanthropic and certified by the National Council of Social Services, provides numerous scholarships to students who have demonstrated socioeconomic deprivation and invests all his results in favor of the School, which enables the FACENS be an educational center in constant evolution.
Mission
The Faculty of Engineering of Sorocaba, FACENS, its mission is:"BEING AN INSTITUTION OF HIGHER EDUCATION IN THE FIELD OF SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY, TO FORM PROFESSIONAL WITH CONDITIONS OF CREATION, THE REFLECTION OF SCIENTIFIC SPIRIT, AND TRAINING FOR A CONTINUOUS EDUCATION."
Objectives
The Faculty of Engineering of Sorocaba, FACENS, has the objectives in the areas of the courses he teaches: I - Encourage the creation and development of cultural and scientific spirit of reflective thinking;II - train graduates in different fields of knowledge, qualified for inclusion in the professional sectors and to participate in the development of Brazilian society, and assist in training;III - to encourage research work and scientific research aimed at developing science and technology and the creation and dissemination of culture, and thereby develop an understanding of man and the environment they live in;IV - to promote the spread of cultural, scientific and technical make up the patrimony of humanity and to communicate knowledge through teaching, publications or other forms of communication;V - Encouraging the desire to constantly improve cultural and professional achievement and enable the matching, integrating the knowledge that is being acquired in an intellectual framework and systematizing knowledge of each generation;VI - to foster the knowledge of the problems of this world, particularly national and regional authorities, providing specialized services to this community and to establish a reciprocal relationship;VII - Promoting the extension, open to participation of the population in order to disseminate the achievements and benefits of cultural creation and scientific and technological research in the institution generated. |
