The history of SP-FATEC began on January 15, 1968, when the then Governor of the State of São Paulo, Dr. Roberto de Abreu Sodré Costa constituted a working group would study the feasibility of the gradual implementation of a network superior technology courses lasting two to three years. "
The inaugural lecture was delivered in February 1970 by the Governor of the State of São Paulo. The higher education technology were under the jurisdiction of the State Center for Technological Education of São Paulo, an autonomous government agency established in October 6, 1969. On April 20, 1970, the State Board of Education approved the installation and operation of the State Center for Technological Education of São Paulo with the following courses: Civil Construction, Land Movement modalities and Paving, Hydraulic Works and Buildings, Mechanical, modalities Designer and artist workshops. On January 31, 1980, the name of the game "workshops" was changed to "Production Processes"; on June 16, 1986, the modality of "Design Planner" was changed to "Projects".
In 1973, the State Center for Technical Education was renamed itself the State Center for Technological Education Paula Souza.
On April 10, 1973, was created Faculdadede Technology of São Paulo (SP-FATEC) on June 2, 1974, approved the operation of the course of Data Processing, which was approved on 21 August the same year . On January 30, 1976, was created the Universidade Estadual Paulista "Julio de Mesquita Filho (UNESP), and the State Center for Technological Education Paula Souza transformed into local authority of a special regime, associated with and linked to the University.
On August 23, 1977, approved the deployment of the Advanced Course on Welding Technology. That name was changed to May 7, 1985 Studied for Mechanical Technology, Welding mode.
On November 28, 1986, created the Degree of Mechanical Technology, Precision Engineering mode on September 3, 1991, created the Degree of Technology in Materials, Processes and Electronic Components, and on 30 September 1991, Graduate Course in Automation Technology Office and Secretariat was created. In 2008 began the lessons in High Technology Materials and the course of Superior Tourism and Hospitality.
The courses FATEC-SP already placed in the labor market more than 17,000 technologists, higher education professionals whose training encompasses a wide range of scientific, humanistic and technological advances, thanks to the composition of curricula that respond to technological and economic development, adjusting to the social demands for goods and services. Institutional policy is in permanent contact with the productive sectors of the goods and services, allowing for partnership projects and ensuring the necessary curriculum updating.

Local noble institution, Anversa Amphitheatre Wladimir holds the key events of the institution, such as openings of conferences, symposia, meetings, special events and reception for freshmen and others. With a capacity of more than 300 seats, is equipped with multimedia and computing.

Besides the courses, the FATEC-SP offers graduate programs in the broad sense, technological updating and extension courses, conducts research projects and provide services, exhibitions and events for technology diffusion. To support its activities, the SP-FATEC occupies a building area of 34000 square meters, with modern classrooms equipped with multimedia features, 46 laboratories and workshops, a research center connected to the internet and a library with 40,000 copies books and magazines. Also, has a large amphitheater, four lecture halls, a gym and a large area for exhibitions.
The student body has direct participation in technology projects through the Institutional Scientific Initiation Program, administered by the Coordination of Scientific and Technological Research (CPCT), with their own exclusive quota of scholarships PIBIC / CNPq.
The high quality standard of the laboratories of the Faculty enables the testing and training certificates for skilled labor. The faculty consists of specialists in various areas of the courses, with masters and doctors engaged in teaching activities, research projects and extension services. |
