UNESCO - Integrated Faculties of Cacoal - is an institution of higher learning maintained by the nonprofit Educational Cacoal Association, founded in May 14, 1985.
Its origin began with the creation of the first private college in the state - the Faculty of Education Cacoal - which began in July 1987 with the implementation of the pedagogy course. Implanted in the course of 1988 letters. These first courses started in its own office of the institution. Before that, however, since 1985, has ministered for the exam preparation course in rented room in school for elementary and high school Cacoal.
At the time of his installation, after the initial selection process in 1987, the physical structure that the institution had only comprises four classrooms, construction of wood, and a small administrative block, construction of mixed wood and masonry. these rooms which were the first groups of Pedagogy and Literature had classes. The initial objective of UNESCO when it was installed in Cacoal the skills of professionals working in education and had functions in the public schools. Few were professionals who were then college. Today, UNESCO is dedicated to training qualified professionals for the growing labor market of the municipality, the state and the Northern region, caused by the global development and expansion of boundaries.
In 2010, UNESCO has also initiated its activities in the municipality of Vilhena (campus II) following accreditation by the MEC through Decree No. 1223/2009. The first two courses were allowed in Accounting Sciences and Biomedicine.

Achieve the best quality education in the region through the creation of an educational project that reflects itself in every effort to provide an education of excellence.
Ensure the growth and expansion with technical competence through a policy of expansion, improvement and adaptation to the reality of the campus from the central region of Rondônia, as well as establishing and maintaining a policy of constant research on the demand for new undergraduate and graduate.
Consolidate the political and socio-cultural IES through the establishment of a policy of serving the students and the community, and create and develop a policy that meets the demands of social and cultural region.
Consolidate the ethical and moral commitment through the establishment of a permanent policy of ethical vigilance to every teacher action and functional institution.

The academic community of UNESCO is governed by the following principles:
