Historical Review

The city of La Paz, being since its founding a space of encounter between cultures, events, trade flows and since 1825 an area of Bolivian nationality itself.

Shows this spirit of integration, made this city one of the most important country in much of the nineteenth century and the most precedent in the twentieth century to date, whether as a seat of government, as witnessed momentous events for the country as a whole, a cosmopolitan city, made with a cultural, social, so big, makes no meanness in the city symbol of the nation.

No less important is the name of the city and its meaning, Our Lady of Peace, which he pronounced the Spanish captain Don Alonso de Mendoza in the vicinity of Indian settlement called Choquiapu. We took the measure on October 20, 1542 .

Institutional philosophy that inspired the University Our Lady of Peace is based on the study of human thought, from the standpoint of theoretical knowledge and the verification of it, through empirical fact. His ideals are based on humanism as a doctrine based on the status and destiny of man, ethics as a principle of moral and social duty, as patriotic as the vocation of service to Bolivia and an instrument of national and regional transformation .


The University is the social space par excellence at the confluence of ideas, thoughts and intellect, which help to transform the self and the work of the society. Our Lady of La Paz, is a community of authorities, teachers, students and administrators dedicated to the pursuit of truth, teaching, research, dissemination of culture and university extension fields in which recognizes the responsible participation of its members to achieve their goals.


The University Our Lady of La Paz sees the changing world and the country from the great influence of scientific research, technological innovation and culture as a system of living ideas that each time has therefore expressed its decision to form professionals with the ability to address and respond to the demands of the XXI century, with projections into the future, contributing to community development and the creation of a knowledge society.
