Institutional Mission IUCS is addressed to "the academic humanities and scientific professionals in the Health Sciences, following a model of education meets the needs of the community and the region, having a primary care as the main strategy for promotion, prevention and recovery of health, with a commitment to implement, update and ability to adapt to different environments and circumstances; transmit the skills acquired and the development of human knowledge in accordance with ethical, moral and cultural. Actively participate in educational activities and assistance to the community by promoting the common good. Promote scientific research priority lines applicable to the needs of our country. Facilitate the mobility of academics and scientists to develop research programs and networks. "

INSTITUTE OF MEDICAL EDUCATION AND EVALUATION
Institutional Evaluation Department (DEI), established in 1993 as a strategic area of the Institute of Medical Education and Evaluation, has provided professional advice from that date for the development of mechanisms to achieve the objectives and purposes of the university organization through solving problems that do, not only to the daily corporate management, but also the institutional evaluation process from public and / or private institutions and certified undergraduate and graduate programs. Composed of a team of highly skilled personnel led by the Rector of the University itself and its Secretary General. Its objectives are:
a-To provide strategies for teaching and learning processes.
Instance b-function as constitutive of institutional management systems.
c-To promote and to build evaluation processes.
d-Ser Instance technology projects in the area.
Serves as the methodological advice and support - instrumental in developing the institutional evaluation process. Proceeds to analyze the university institutions not only from its organization, but also from their identity, thus developing the evaluation model most suitable to be adopted for each institution.
Since its establishment has met the objectives, working on achievements such as:

Regional Accreditation System of Undergraduate Programs for MERCOSUR Arcu - South is the continuation of a process with similar characteristics, called Experimental Accreditation Mechanism (MEXA), which was implemented in a limited number of races. MEXA showed that the actions in the education sector in MERCOSUR, were adequate and, therefore, the importance of having a permanent accreditation at university level in the region
The basis for the establishment Guide Arcu SUR System were defined in the Memorandum of Understanding adopted at the XXXIII Meeting of Ministers of Education held on November 9, 2007, in Montevideo, Uruguay. This MOU, signed between the Ministers of Education, subsequently assumed the character of Agreement between the countries through a Common Market Group Decision
In documents CONEAU (Argentina) refers to Arcu SUR, stressing: "This system aims at continuous improvement of training of people with quality standards required for promotion of economic, social, political and cultural of our people. Also, focuses on the consolidation of a knowledge society and a regional scientific community, aimed at the creation of an egalitarian world and peace, where prevailing accountability, human rights, environment and partnership " . In the SUR Arcu participated: Argentina, Brazil, Paraguay, Uruguay, Bolivia and Chile.
In this context, the Institute of Health Sciences Foundation H. A. Barceló, through its Rector Prof. Dr. Hector A. Barceló and his technical team was involved from the start in advisory committees created for the purpose of defining the standards for accreditation of courses and culminating in the basic document, "Assessment Document for Experimental Accreditation Mechanism career in the Mercosur , Medical Advisory Committee "
As a result of the diverse experiences of assessment and accreditation, IUCS, one way or another, since 1997 has been tested 23 times. Seven times from the institutional point of view and the rest through the medical career or graduate studies (in successive calls).
Also, as always had his offer undergraduate and graduate, since 1997, its graduate programs have been submitting to accreditation and, from 2000 when first launched CONEAU the call for the accreditation of Medicine, this race been submitted for evaluation and accreditation in successive call, we were in each case.
Under an agreement with the CONEAU, the IUCS has implemented institutional self-evaluation and external evaluation requested, which was held in 2000.
