The National University of Río Cuarto (UNRC), entity of public law, is a working community that integrates the national education system at the top level, to provide teaching, scientific research, technical training, vocational training and raising the ethical and aesthetic level, promoting and disseminating the national culture in all its forms, produce goods and services with social projection. In this context, its activity is directed towards the elucidation of the major human problems, make necessary and useful contributions to these problems, preferably those of the national life and especially so in the region of Rio Cuarto.

According to its ultimate goals, the University should encourage the participation of community members for life, peace, democracy and the values of freedom, promoting the role of Argentina in the world, regional integration and American.

It was established on 1 May 1971 by decree of the Executive in a compliance program in university teaching Argentina to the needs of development and in response to a strong social movement both locally and regionally that allowed the greatest cultural achievement of the region.

Its creation was a milestone in the participation of all social sectors of the local community and regional tenacious efforts. Represents a typical example of community management because it was an achievement of men and institutions with clear objectives and mobilized large collective maturity, a fact which has been the hallmark of its genesis.

Thus the potential of UNRC is inextricably linked to their community and region, based on which defines its size, the pace of its expansion, its investigative work and dumps its innovation capacity to contribute to its development.

The University carries out its work through the system of autonomy and autarky to him under the law. Government has its seat in the city of Rio Cuarto. Academic and administrative activities are centralized in the comfortable facilities of the university campus, 165 acres, 6 km away. the center of the city and in 1445 has. Field experimentation and diverse cultural practices.

560 teachers and 1,000 teaching assistants, 20,000 students and 700 graduate degree, with an average annual income of 4,000 students and 471 administrative staff and technical support make up the human resource table of the UNRC.
