Our history

On May 4, 1960 was born in Mendoza Juan Agustín Maza University as a Civil Society Nonprofit, whose motto, "homo res sacra homini" ("Man is sacred to man") was the guiding principle further development. From that identity founding 50 years have passed fruitful work and quiet, generous in producing graduates with proven competence, which are the best example of the dedication of all its members, whose conviction is to be forming good men and women whose goals are freedom, intellectual independence, humanism, ethical, solidarity and justice. Those who yesterday were students and teachers or authorities today can attest to the profound transformation and growth of the University, which started with two faculties and today, full of accomplishments, has ten academic units.

Don Juan Agustín Maza - Biography

Born in Mendoza, May 4, 1784, and died in his homeland, in the tragedy of Chacay, the June 11, 1830. Is an example of a public man whose actions he has become justly, in Proc. JD, was always a valuable national concern about the formation and the fate of the society they belonged.

These traits and behavior led him to be elected by an overwhelming majority, MP for the Congress of Tucumán Mendoza, along with Don Tomás Godoy Cruz. In the deciding match in our history, said the idea of declaring independence as the imperative of United Provinces of Río de la Plata, and was honored to sign the Minutes of Meeting of July 9, 1816.
