Mission and History
The mission of the University of the Latin American Educational Center is to provide students the highest educational experience, able to motivate and enable them to achieve worthy goals for a meaningful life and helping to develop their maximum potential ability to achieve this goal
This mission is expressed in a range of purposes that guide activities:
Apply in their mission of higher education, the highest goals and methods, and always ensure the permanence of Christian evangelical principles that underpin the purpose of Methodist education.
Preserve their autonomy in full compliance with the law and set guidelines and requires the Ministry of Culture and Education of Argentina.
Education is considered a Methodist institution, while encouraging a broad ecumenism.
Conceive to higher education as a process of learning for a lifetime.
Shared with the community every educational and cultural resources and make use of all learning opportunities for their students that the community can provide.
Prepare students to perform in a networked society.
Maintain a harmonious development in terms of growth and number of students in order to provide high quality programs and to maintain optimal teacher / student relationship.
Promote research, development in the UCEL.
SCHOOL HISTORY AND THE UNIVERSITY
La Universidad del Centro Educativo Latinoamericano, UCEL, was created in 1993 in the midst of a civil association without profit. Evangelical Methodist institution with a solid and proven track record, whose history goes back nearly 150 years ago, when two American educators arrived in the country to work with the educational enterprise of Domingo Faustino Sarmiento.
The story was started by two young people continued by identical ethical and educational reasons, whose hard work over the years generated new projects and enabled the expansion of its facilities incorporating different levels of education.
In July 2007, the final rating awarded by the Ministry of Education of Argentina UCEL confirmed as the only institution in the city and the region to have all educational levels capping a long history of commitment, growth and educational tradition.
The Methodist movement, led by John Wesley, had its beginnings in the university of Oxford in the eighteenth century, guided by faith in Jesus Christ, according to the biblical witness and evangelical practice of the Protestant Reformation, seeking to unite faith and reason, with a clear social commitment for common action for the welfare of all and a broad ecumenical vision and openness, to meet the challenges of the new "industrial society" that was announced in this century. This emphasis on the importance of education was evident since the founding of the school and college Latin American Educational Center in 1875, within which our University was established.
In this sense, is a community UCEL confessor, with a long tradition of openness and dialogue with the secular and pluralistic society, we want to keep alive a spirit of freedom and personal choice, supported by dialogue and common action. UCEL does not require its students, faculty and staff determined no confession, nor is it intended to impose. There is no purpose in any discrimination on grounds of sex, race, religion or thought. UCEL conforms well with their own social principles of the Evangelical Methodist Church Argentina and the common principles of our nation, expressed in the Constitution and international treaties it entered
