The University preserves, promotes and develops the culture of our status as a university patented sixties, through the constant pursuit of excellence in the comprehensive education of students in scientific research and its application in overcoming professional and leaders and extension, according to international requirements and national and regional priorities, immersing ourselves in the society with the relevance and impact that demands our time.
To accomplish this mission the University of East has 1159 full-time faculty part-time and 2180. In total, there are 5180 workers (November 2009).
The center has 2 Campus. At the Antonio Maceo lie addresses the Faculties of Social Sciences, Humanities, Law, Economics and Business, Science, Mathematics and Computer Sciences and Distance Education. University courses or undergraduate for foreigners at the University of East composed of 15 college degrees:
DEGREE in Chemistry, Mathematics, Art History, History, Literature, English Language, Psychology, Economics and Accounting.
ENGINEERING in Chemical, Mechanical, Automation, Electrical, Telecommunications and Electronics, Civil and Architecture.
In Cuba the academic year is organized by semesters begins on the first Monday in September and ends in the 2nd. week of July each year. As a condition of entry down the non-university Bachelor's degree equivalent to 12 degrees of pre-university education duly legalized birth certificate, health certificate and 6 passport photos. Students are governed by regulations of the Cuban Higher Education.

The minimum number of hours is 20.
The Diploma enables specialized training of college graduates by providing knowledge acquisition and skill development aspects of a particular area of science or art.

The MSc is a postgraduate training process that provides graduates deep knowledge of research methods, broad scientific and advanced knowledge in a field of knowledge, developing job skills education, research and development.
Is given in the Master of one credit for each 15 hours or part thereof. You can give the master's thesis as well as other non-school activities as much as 50% of total program credits must devote up to 40% of total loans to research and 10-20% for non-school activities related to the academic year.
To perform a Master the basic requirements are:
Graduation from a college that is accredited with the appropriate title.
Meet the requirements of the Academic Committee of each Master.
Accept the established tuition.
Approve the appropriations system (minimum 70 credits. 1 credit equals 15 hours).
The average duration of the program is 2 years to 5 years.

The courses, diploma and Masters may vary from course to course depending on enrollment applications.
The Doctorate is a postgraduate training process that gives college graduates a deep and wide in a field of knowledge and allows you to get a scientific degree.
Doctoral Programs have variants full-time attendance or blended distance or part time. The PhD in semi-remote requires the presence of the foreign applicant at the Universidad de Oriente, Santiago de Cuba, at least once a year (most recommended are two rooms) for a minimum period of one month at dates agreed between the doctoral student and tutor.
The requirements for doctoral studies in Cuba are:
